Draft at Moriartys. Very dark clear caramel pour. Thin layer of off-white foam that completely disappeared. Succulent sweet malty notes balanced with some burnt bitter citrus and spice. Oranges and cloves. Cinnamon. Liquorice root. Maple planks. Sharp and spicy. Fairly dry finish.

Always an adventure trying out these Xmas brews, but Great Lakes has made a winner in this one...well balanced, complex, and just the right amount of winter spice makes this a very drinkable beer. Well done.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a delicious coppery brew with an off white head. There are faint smells of Christmas Spirit! Not too spicy not too cinnamony. Good medium body. Something Santa and his elves would definitely pound!

Pour a mahogany color with a thin filmy head, moderate carbonation and good lacing. Smell of cinnamon, honey, pale malts, and ginger. Nice honey flavor with cinnamon, pale malts, barley and yeasts with a hint of caramel. Moderate body and light carbonation. Nice

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Pours clear amber with a small off-white head that leaves some intricate, doily lace. Nose involves fresh gingery spice, graham cracker, nutmeg, orange, and some prominent mint. Pretty sweet flavor, fairly bitter. Lighter bodied for a strong beer, clean, tingly, with a lengthy spicy finish. A decent brew, not too intense on the spices which is good, but still just ultimately not my style.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is a wonderfully balanced Christmas ale. It is rich, but not heavy or cloying. You definitely know the spices are there, but they are not overpowering. This is not one of those Christmas ales that you get tired of before you have finished the bottle.

Wonderful copper color extremely smooth with a slight hint of honey this is a very drinkable beer with very little bitterness and a surprising clean finish considering the spices involved. It's a keeper and should be available in the fridge for those Christmas get togethers.
