Coppery-golden, lightly effervesced, beneath a large, foamy, cream-colored head. Spicy aromas of clove, ginger, orange peel above a doughy yeastiness. Flavor is cheek-pinchingly tart with a dominance of earthy spiciness (as above with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg). A lemon-tea maltiness emerges late, but itís hard to get past the power of all that generous spicing. Mid-bodied. Festive. As many others of the "S/H/V" style, this is interesting and tasty but becomes annoying if you try to session it. ~~~~~~~ A holiday gift, but widely available (seasonally) in the Chicagoland area.

Malty, slightly syrupy, touch of hop brightness, finishes with Christmas spice...allspice.

Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of caramel, yeast, spice and light fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, spice and light fruitiness with a smooth dry lingering spiced finish.

Pours ruddy amber, clear. No head, just a bit of oily lace. Aroma is ginger and honey. I donít get the cinnamon. Medium body, kind of _chewy_. Reminds me of a spiced ham.

Oily amber with not much head. Faint aroma of citrus peel and bourbon. Slightly sweet with hints of ginger and cinnamon. Pleasant, round, full mouthfeel. Would probably be rated a lot higher if I didnít have a headcold blocking most of my smell and taste.

Pours a deep golden color with a thin, white head. Not much there on the nose, but the taste is sweet with a fairly solid malt backbone. Caramel and cinnamon are primary with hints of other spices. None are overwhelming, which I like. Solid for the style.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Hazy, copper-orange with a 2-finger khaki head and very good lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, caramel, orange and a touch of pine. Taste of cinnamon, caramel, ginger, a hint of cloves, pine resin and orange. Medium body and high/medium carbonization. A good example of a spiced Christmas ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice dark copper/red color with off-white head. Spice, cinnamon, ginger, and caramel malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more spice. Good winter beer.

Gift 12 oz. bottle, poured to a goblet, showing a clear & bright, coppery amber color, with a frothy layer of tan head foam that diminished slowly to a bubbly ring & film, and left clingy waves & ribbons of lacing on the glass. The nose was smooth malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, and light, ginger-bread spiciness. Medium bodied, with nice spritz to the carbonation, and some creaminess to the mouthfeel, the taste was a combo of moderate, earthy bitterness with some lingering quality, more noticeably honey sweetness than malt, ginger, and much less influential cinnamon. Alcohol was active, and lightly warming. Not bold holiday spicing, but a decent celebratory brew that can fair well as a tasty Strong Ale before and after the season.
