lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Dec 12, 2007 Decently hoppy overall, but didn’t get a lot of aroma in the scent. It might be an old bottle. A little higher alcohol than most IPA’s, but barely detectable through the hops.
Easily could grab a 6 of these. jsquire (2087), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Dec 11, 2007 Deep golden beer with a frothy off white head. Fresh floral hoppy nose with green apple and grapefruit rind. Full mouthfeel, almost syrupy. Cannied orange peel, pine resin, caramel squares. This is a hot IPA, which tingles on the tongue and leaves a thick, sweet hop resin in the finish. tytoanderso (1382), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Dec 10, 2007 12oz bottle from my Secret Santa. Muddled fruit cocktail aroma. Pears, peaches and apricots. A decent earthy component (grass and leaves as well. Pours bright honey colored with a thin white head. Nice amount of tongue grabbing bitterness on the palate. Some pine resin and dry wood but lots of bitter citrus. Crisp and lively on the tongue. Vibrant hops. The bitter hops leave a lasting impression. crazyvin (1246), New York, USA Dec 9, 2007 Poured a golden color, almost straw-like. Thin white head which had some lacing. Aroma was mainly soapy with some pine/citrus. Flavor seemed to be all hops. good but nothing special. Crisp finish, jspruit (111), Dublin, Ireland Dec 4, 2007 Poured from a 12oz bottle I picked up in Michigan this summer.
Poured a great copper hue with a large 3 finger head that was creamy in color. Some carbonation throughout and the head diminished to a nice top after a bit.
Very hoppy & fruit smells upon the pour-quite fragrant. Taste of hops & light fruits came through right away in the taste with a nice smooth mouthfeel, but I think that this beer might have suffered a bit from the travel back to Ireland-fairly bitter without alot of maltiness.
I’d like to try this one again if I could-maybe the next time that I am in the area I’ll try this Ohio beer as I tend to like this style & Great Lakes usually makes some good brews. Frank (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 24, 2007 Golden, maybe half a shade darker than a pilsener (in a pilsener glass, as it so happens). Head of larger bubbles dissipates into a small ring of tiny bubbles left behind in a few small patches of lace w/ each sip. Nose is a fruity bouquet of hops w/ some pear bites coming out once tasted. Maybe a touch too bitter w/ resiny hops in the finish but w/ real fine feisty carbonation. Not bad at all but I can’t think of any reason I’d chose this over Burning River. Commodore Perry rules all though. Fuck the British Empire and the impressment of our sailors. gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2007 Found this one bottled in Salem, Wisconsin. Clear, dark yellow pour with a thick, rapidly dissipating foamy head, apple and pine nutty nose, piney hops, very bitter, with a strong finish. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Nov 19, 2007 Pours a light copper color. Aroma and taste of grassy hops, light citrus, and subtle pine. Alcohol is way to sharp for just and IPA. Just a mess of an IPa
