ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA May 7, 2007 Huge hops presence with no shortage of spice, perfume, floral & citrus notes, and evergreen resin. Pours a sparkling yellow gold. The full creamy white head is mostly lasting and leaves sticky curtains of light lace. The flavor is burnt bitterness through & through. Pretty stiff stuff, but hey - I’m a hop head so full speed ahead. Once this brew warms some it softens as malt is able to bleed through somewhat to add a little balance. The full creamy body is soft and feels dry at the finish. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 7, 2007 Updated: Sep 16, 2008Draft, Cleveland airport. Shiny, clear orange-amber with medium head that lasts fairly well. Aroma is citrus-pine hop with strong malt frame. Flavor is same, malt becomes more evident later, with nice hop-malt aftertaste. Palate is smooth and oily with a nicely understated carbonation and hop tingle. nihar (68), Ohio, USA May 6, 2007 Aroma of hops and fruits.. pours clear golden with a frothy head... tastes like a hopped IPA as expected with a nice bitterness jcr (1136), Jasper, Indiana, USA May 4, 2007 Clear amber pour with an average, frothy, diminishing head. Nose presents light to average malts, mostly grain. The hops, as expected in an IPA, come to the forefront, though average in intensity for this style. Notes of flowers, perfume, grapefruit and orange. The flavor is bitter with undertones of sweet orange juice. The bitterness lingers. Medium body with a sticky texture. Average carbonation. Tasty. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA May 3, 2007 12 oz bottle, bonus via trade with bgburdman9. Thanks. Pours surprisingly light orange with a thin bright white head. The aroma is super tame. The taste is sweet and the hoppiness is hidden on the front end and relatively sweet and strong and lighttly bitter on the back end. The aroma portends crap but it ain’t half bad. blastoff (21), Alabama, USA May 3, 2007 Good, but fairly "light" for an IPA. Not overly hopped. Mildly citrus. Perhaps a good introductory IPA to those who might not otherwise like them. Solid, but not noteworthy. A good deal at $7/six pack. kimcgolf (822), Dacula, Georgia, USA May 1, 2007 This is m favorite of the Great Lakes line so far. Poured to a golden orange, with medium white head that lingered well into the drink, and left good lacing up and down the glass. Aroma was immediately strong grassy hops, whcih set up well for the tingly bitter mouthfeel to follow. At mid-glass, the 7.5 abv made itself more known, blending perfectly with the hoppy-grassy flavor. This all led to a very pleasant bitter-dry finish.
Way to go on this one GL!!! hopson (591), Williamsville, New York, USA Apr 30, 2007 draft at brewpub, claimed to be 8 percent, so this may have been different from the bottled variety. fruityness thoughout, orange in appearence, great piney/citrus scent with some other fruits (strawberrys). Really liked this.
