Medium bodied and well hopped with dry, fruity aftertaste, this monumental India Pale Ale honors the hero from The War of 1812 who battled the enemy on Lake Erie.

My hometown IPA. A good citrusy flavor with a clean crisp finish. A good amount of hops rounds this beer out nicely

12 fl oz bottle from Potsdam NY, served cool in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear amber with a think white head and decent lacing. Aroma: Quite herbal, almost vegetal, really hard to pinpoint what is going on here, sort of resinous/spicy(?), green, cedar?, strange. Palate: Medium body, quite relaxed carbonation. Flav.: Odd caramel, herbal, vegetal, cedar, leafy, peppery, quite odd; dry with some bitterness and a continuation of the cacophony of strange flavours.

I generally like Great Lakes brews. This one is just strange. And not good.

12oz bottle from Wegmanís, Buffalo. A hazy amber pour with a ring of white head; sweet, malty aroma with ruby grapefruit; sjharp, grapefruity taste, with a rich, chewy, buttery body; and a clean, crisp, dry, finish. A very pleasant IPA with well hidden strength,

Peachy-gold body has some deeper amber tints to it, while the medium-sized white head fades quickly to cover.
Honey, peaches, cinnamon?, ruby red grapefruit and lots of gooey white bread like sweetness in the nose leads more to a British style IPA. Black pepper, some grassiness and a fair amount of caramel malt all play nicely together and the evil pine resin never comes remotely close. Fruity, for sure, but kind of like those canned peaches or canned mandarin oranges. No alcohol, which is impressive at this level.
A very odd beer, not that it tastes bad or anything, just a lot of stuff going on that I wouldnt normally think would work well. The carbonation and mouthfeel are a bit flabby, leading to some looseness/wateriness and the sugars, very well present here, contribute a slick texture. The hops show very low bitterness, tons of orange, ruby red grapefruit and plenty of grassiness. Somehow, the beer seems to work out in spite of itself. The wateriness helps break up some of the sweetness, while the bitterness that is present is able to balance the rest and the actual flavors themselves are quite enjoyable.

Very good beer. Excellent hops presence with floral notes. Not much malt backbone here which is nice.

This is one of those no holds barred hop explosion... There isnít a lot of malt backbone to this. What is there is a great tasting amount of sweetness... The major shine to this beer comes from the crazy complexity to the hops. Citrus and some fruitiness... Itís good is what Iím saying... Very good.

Pours golden orange with a small white head. It smells like chalk, copper, grass, and earthy hops. The taste is a little sweet with a bit of honey, earthy bitter hops, and grapefruit rinds. Itís a pretty good easy to drink ipa.

Clear golden white head. Citrus nose. Green hop flavor, cloying, with decent malt background. It does taste pretty big.
