3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In bottle. Citrus aromatics. Pretty classic East Coast-style IPA. Hops don’t stand out, but are present in a juicy orangeness. Malts back ’em. Everything comes together in quaffable pleasantness. Definitely don’t taste the 7.5% abv.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great beer exclusive to the Northeast. Typical IPA flavor and bitterness. Left excellent lacing when poured into an IPA glass. I personally enjoy this beer more than many other west coast IPA's I have had. Great fruit and pine hints and not overly dry.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle @ Blue Duck Tavern, DC. The pour’s medium amber with a small head. The nose is lemon sherbet, pine cone. Summery pacific hops. Some white grapes. The taste is cantaloupe and more pine. Moderate caramel. Toasty bitterness on the finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Overall, pretty pleasant stuff. A robust malt profile, sure, but I liked it. Gazza would certainly object.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle purchased at total wine in springfield va july 2013
Pours clear orange with a small soapy white head. Nose is very catty hops sweet citrus with sime musty wet grain malt notes. Flavors are mostly citrus and stale malt. The bottle is only a couple months old and it tastes it. Really a very boring ipa that suffers from cloying sweetness and not enough hops. Some harsh resinous bitterness long in the finish. Not balanced and sloppy.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle, Kroger, $8.99/6. Golden-amber, perfect creamy off-white head dissipates into nothing; medium lacing. Strongly bitter aroma of citrus, grass, fruit, flowers, bread, caramel. Flavor is very fruity with light, natural caramel flavors and a sharply bitter but just balanced finish. Medium body with lively carbonation. Excellent IPA.

Another Great Lakes from Tim... Thanks! Enjoyed from the bottle. Smell is a bit muted but I do pick up hints of grapefruit and mango with a slight caramel maltiness. Taste outshines the smell by far. Floral fruity hops with a slight malty back bone. Mango and maybe a bit of pineapple. Thin to medium body, great carbonation. Solid IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 6, 2013 Pours amber with an orange tint and brilliant clarity. Small off white head that fell to an oily film and ring. Effervescing and luminous. Left sticky lace in dabs and patches. Freshness date reads 8/29/13. Nose is sweet with soft citrus and floral. Ripe mango, peach a whiff of melon and some nice sweet grapefruit. Fruits intensify as it warms. Slightly nutty cereal grain malt. Dry and toasted with a drizzle of honey sweetness to back it up. There’s a touch of alcohol on the nose. Taste is smooth. Soft ripe fruits meet light biscuit. The malt is good and full and gives great balance to all the ripe fruit. It has big sweetness that balances a substantial hop bitter that kicks in on the back palate and takes a minute before it realizes it’s peak. A little biscuit and honey show up one last time for a dry finish of light pine, faint nutty flavor, light resin and some alcohol which adds to the dryness.
This is a second rating. Great Lakes has reputation in my house for making exciting and exceptional beers and this one, lived up to my expectations. It approached outstanding but the alcohol was too prominent on the palate for it’s abv. The nose on this bottle was sweet and juicy, fragrant and fresh. My first rating was on 6/28 and the total score 3.38. If Great Lakes was not such a favorite of mine I would never have sought out the additional bottles to compare. So glad I did.
