corby112 (677), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 31, 2009 Pours a hazy dark ruby red/ copper color with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates into a thin ring that lasts throught, leaving minimal splotches of lacing here and there.
Piny hop aroma with a touch of citrus peel and a nice biscuit/ caramel backbone. Resinous hop oil, lemon and grapefruit. Very earthy scent
The citrus notes from the aroma are not as prominent in the flavor. Medium body with a slightly chewy resinous hop forward mouthfeel. There is only a slight bit of citrus peel and grapefruit flavor. The hops are very earthy and plant like not crisp and floral. The malt backbone provides a decent balance with some nice biscuit notes. This beer is a decent session beer that is kind of one dimensional. Pretty good but not something I would drink regularly.
williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Aug 24, 2009 Pours as clear as a magnifying glass. Half finger of foamy head. Glowing golden; scant but huge bubbles.
The smell is oak and oily pine. Like Pine-Sol actually. A little smoky in the malt. Definitely woody.
The taste -- like the smell -- is oily and woody. Tons of pine, but in a floor cleaner way rather than a hoppy way. Really a classic overhop; astringent and heavy, and teeming with apparent alcohol.
The feel is oily and thick; it’s a slow sipper to be sure. Overally, it’s very heavy and loaded with a massive amount of hops. But unfortunately, there isn’t a shred of malty balance. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Aug 24, 2009 Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours a very light copper with a good finely bubbled near-white head. The floral aroma is to die for. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is lots of floral/fruity hop. There’s some malt, but who cares. Seems to be something like peach/apricot and citrus. Finishes rather dry, and the fruity bitter stays through and on. Wish I lived near where this is retailed. With time a few hot bits pop up, but the fruit endures. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA Aug 21, 2009 clear gold with substantial vanilla milkshake head, flowery perfume, with some grassiness in nose. Fruity and peppery. The hops don’t really kick in until the finish, and when the do they are long but lean DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Aug 18, 2009 Draft: Clear light golden color with a white head. Fruity nose with somewhat of a floral character and some lemon zest to boot. Grapefruity flavors and pretty nicely bitter, yet balanced. complex citrus character with floral overtones and a citrusy zing in the finish. I dig it. Got a bottle here too that I’ll be opening in the next couple of days to see if i get anything more out of it. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Aug 16, 2009 Pours a clear goldish orange with thick white head, minimal lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, slight floral, slight grass, and light pine. Flavor matches well and comes together nicely. Solid IPA. phaleslu (427), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 14, 2009 Draft. Clear gold pour with a white head that stays around for most of the drink. Very nice hops on the nose and flavor. Some citrus and floral notes to boot. Crisp, a little bitter, light-medium body. Refreshing, and a very strong IPA from Great Lakes. GandGKevin (183), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Aug 12, 2009 Very good IPA. Good hop aromas and flavors. Lingers nicely on the palate. Slightly bitter finish. Overall this is a very good IPA.
