Medium bodied and well hopped with dry, fruity aftertaste, this monumental India Pale Ale honors the hero from The War of 1812 who battled the enemy on Lake Erie.

Pours a clear gold with a medium amount of quickly dissapating white head. Aroma is light slightly sweet piney and grassy. Flavor is sweet and not as hoppy as i would have expected. deinite grass flavor. Somewhat soapy finish. Overall, decent.

Bottle from Matt (DrBayern) Thanks! Orange colored in the glass, not much of a head. Pretty clear. Smell is grass, pine, hops, and fruity. Taste - similar, nice drying hop effect to it. A pretty drinkable IPA to be as well hopped as it is. Goes pretty well with spicy foods. Very nice.

Golden amber pour, very translucent, lots of bubbles and one finger of bubbly head that dies down quickly. Aromas are of fruit, hops and soap. Flavor is a little unbalanced up front where things start off really grainy and head into unchartered (and somewhat unexpected) territories of bitter hops. There is a slight chemical/phenol bite at the end that pulls it even further off course as it highlights the alcoholic content. Body is very thin feeling.

Man, not even close to Burning River. Yes it is dry hopped but man is this very average. An initailly small weak head with a clear body. Medium aroma, mainly acidic hops. Body is light with hops adding nothing at this point, no malts. Very average for this brewer. Disappointing.

Bottle. Clear amber orange color. Grassy, oily sweet sugar hop nose, very nice smelling. Properly bitter, nice and biting on the lips and tongue, with crisp, fresh grassy, even tinny, but in a good way. Very enjoyable, fresh, properly hoppy IPA.

This starts with a large, three dimensional, sticky white head over a brilliantly clear gold body. The aroma is fruity citrus. Subdued sweet flavor. The hops never really burst out in this in either the flavor or finish. Needs more malt and hops to go with the top IPAs.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2006 Much fruitier than other IPA’s, not as bitter, but very enjoyable. A light to medium body, love the surprisingly strong fruit and piney flavor, a dry finish. A fine beer.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2009 The bitterness bites you on the nose right out of the gate and doesn’t let go ’til you cross the finish line. Quite fruity and hoppy. A well-balanced great IPA-- very surprised it doesn’t rate higher on this site drinks this bitter do not appeal to all.

Clearish straw-colored body, thin off-white head. Soapy, earthy, piney hops nose, with biscuit and spice. Rather strong soapy body with flower petals and pine, sweet breads, and a long, bitter, spicy finish. Cerealy, a touch nutty. Pretty good IPA.

On tap @ brewpub. Pours a copper color with a nice white head. Aroma is mildly hoppy, with a hint of fruit. Taste is light for the style, not a huge body and not overwhelming hop presence, which makes it drinkable IMHO. A bit too hoppy for to be a pale ale, but not as extreme as other IPA examples. It would be a refreshing outdoor brew, to me!
