3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at State College BrewExpo. Golden amber clear with thin head. Nice fruity caramel aroma with some grapefruit and brown sugar. Really nice taste, smoothly balanced between sweet malts and almost-harsh bitterness. Good grapefruity and juicy hops taste. Medium carbonation with little burn.

A decent IPA. Pours clear light copper. Rocky white head. Good lacing. Piny hops, with some malt and a little fruit. Ok bitter aftertaste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a transparent golden yellow with a fast dimishing white head. Bready and fruity aroma, a good amount of brown sugar and caramel malt with maybe a touch of boozey citrus. The flavor holds a good amount of grassy/piney bitterness with some sweet malt in the front and a bitter/dry somewhat fruity finish. The carbonation is nice, and the body seems pretty solid but also feels a bit thin torwards the back. It almost tastes like someone poured a bit of an average pilsner into a decent IPA. Overall itís pretty good, the bitter/dry qualities are nice, but the overall feel is a bit choppy.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours to a clean golden body with a huge creamy white head. Looks great in the stein Iím using. Nice lacing and nice slow but lively carbonation. The aroma is nectarines, definite rhubarb and strawberry pie, light graham crackers. The flavor is a bitter rhubarb and mushy frozen strawberries that are being thawed and overcooked in the microwave. Overly and very raw bitterness. Dry grassyness kicks in as it warms up. The palate is resiny and leaves a lingering bitterness. Leaves a long undesireable warming from the alcohol. Pretty average.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. In the aroma I picked up plenty of crisp hops that I had a hard time describing. Perhaps my sample was too cold, or maybe just my brain. The flavor was quite bold and hoppy. For my personal taste this one was riiight on the edge of being too aggressively bittered. Still, a quality beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Another quality beer from the Great Lakes Brewery. The aroma was great on thi sbeer. Very fruity and citrusy...maybe simcoe or centennial hops? The flavors were just as good. I think the mouthfeel and follow up taste could have benifited from maybe a little more malt. The hops start to over power it after only a short time. Even with the criticism it is still another good beer that I would recommend to any fan of ipas or double ipas.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Clear and bright bronze in color with an icy & dusty grey sheaf for the head. Honey amaretto and cherry grahams kick start the beautiful aromatic display, geniusly complimented by simcoe sweet pie delight, nectary cedar pine, crumbled rhubarb and delicious strawberry scented bran. First sip affirms that itís a phenomenal bittering & flavor hop formula. In fact, itís an IPA at its cherry, strawberry and amaretto best. Balanced baby cakes with a nectar induced pine needle, dripping with cherry maple gloss. Backdrop Disaronno is aroused with a building bitterness which never detracts from the mostly sweet flavor hop impartations from simcoe and amarillo, lingering with a starfruit and sugar glazed grapefruit topicality. Supportive carbonation and balanced beyond belief. Oily amaretto smear gives a desirably thick quality to the body. Nuked, maple-like cherry crumble and a drumming bitterness resound prophetically in the finish. This oneís got fury, but itís balanced so well that itís truly enjoyable at every sip and posturing throughout the experience.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Clear dark gold with really no head. Sweet hop aromas of citrus and lemongrass. It has a pretty intense bitter flavor up front, almost hairspray like. It seems to have a flavor of green weeds, wood, and some fruit. It leaves a lingering bitterness that almost makes you want to eat something to cleanse the palate. It has a pretty smooth feel. Thanks Santa!

<!-- B -->Bottle<!-- /B --> Pours a pelucid slightly orangeish yellow. Large persistant foamy white head. Long lasting sticky lacing. Soft dull but attractive hoppy aroma. Not the sharp spicy knd of other western IPAs. Mild malty backbone and lightly fizzy. Overall a nice middle of the road IPA. Thanks to <!-- B -->pinkzambia<!-- /B --> fo the bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2007 Bottle @ TimEís House: Gold color, light yellow and a thin white head and some moderate lacing. The nose is strong with carbonation and a sharp grassy citrusy hop note, nearly no malt in the nose. The flavor is grassy and citrusy with a fumey grapefruit note, lacking a malt biscuit backdrop giving this a high school musical feel to it. Real emotion, but cheap props. The finish delivers though with a full body and a clean finish, nice hoppy tail, plenty of malt in the mouthfeel. Decent, needs a bit more bitterness and alcohol for me, falls right into the regular ipa category for me.
