4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at
"Keller’s IGA" in gaslight Clifton - This one pours a dark amber fluid with a piney-citrus aroma and a tall white head of foam. Tastewise, it starts of with rich body and a quite balanced taste, but finishs weaker. A good IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle. Aroma: Grapefruit, floral, slight caramel, and toast. Appearance: Light amber and clear with an off white head that was foamy and long lasting. Flavor: Big floral, grapefruit, citrus, slight malt sweetness and biscuit flavors. Well balanced. Palate: Medium bodied and medium carbonation. Finish was dry and bitterness did not linger too long. Overall: The last time I had this was on tap at the brewery several months ago. Seemed more aggresively hopped then. This one was good, but not as good as I remember. Still, a well balanced and very drinkable IPA that would go great with food.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
All hops and not much malt, which is why it went well with wings, which were way too hot for my tastes. Drinkable but one dimensional and probably not as deserving as the rating i have given it, but i’ll have to try it again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear golden body with a thin but persistent white head. The aroma is fruity and crisp, full of great citrus fruit: orange, grapefruit and lemon. Some slightly biscuity and slightly caramelized malty goodness lays underneath with a hint of mixed cereals. My expectation was a slightly thin body, but a surprisingly creamy and robust velvet hit my tongue and really made me giddy. Holy bitterness! The nose definitely shows plenty of hop character, but it’s sweet and thoroughly enticing. The bitterness here is shockingly intense and even more enjoyable. Like a sine wave, this undulates from bitterness to a creamy, cookie-esque sweetness and back to bitter, biting finish. This is a damn fine IPA, a little different than the usual Alpha King, Hop Devil, Goose Island IPA that I normally drink. It’s really quite nice; I wish I saw bottles more often.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light in color. Not overly hoppy. Smooth flavor with a nice finish. It feels lighter than most IPAs which makes it attractive for summer consumption. Their brew schedule of July-september seems to fit. I too have been waiting for this brew from Great Lakes.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Welcome back Old Friend! We finally have Commodore Perry back in bottles!!!!! It has been something like ten years since I have seen this in the bottle.
It pours fairly light in color compared to most American IPAs, with a white head. The floral aroma is good, but not great, not as intoxicating an aroma as some of the elite IPAs ( 60 min, Mojo for example). The flavor however, is very good. It is of a bolder hoppiness than some IPAs, and is pretty dry, not that this is a bad thing. It is big, bold, and not for those who are scared of the hop. It may not be the most balanced IPA on the market, but it is very good well worth a try. Now if Great Lakes would just bottle the Lake Erie Monster.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle pours amber with a nice short offwhite head that stays pretty well and laces the glass in weblike patterns. Aroma of citrus grapefruit, and wildflowers over caramel malts. Flavor is hoppy with lots of grapefruit, apricot, and floral notes, but it is balanced quite well with underlying caramel malts. Finish is somewhat dry and the body is medium without a lot of carbonation. Enjoyable!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light copper in color with a medium white head. Aroma is astringent, wet wood. Flavor is bold hops, spice, pepper, citrus bite, and the high alcohol is fairly noticeable. Dry finish. enjoyable, but like lethe said, not the best amongst american IPA’s. Although for the low price tag, its worth it.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Surprisingly transparent amber-orange pour with medium all-white head. Nose is somewhat floral that foretells a citrus, dry character that was anticipated nevertheless. Body is rather light. Flavor is hoppy assertiveness up front that takes a bitter mouth-coating quality before a palate-waming sweetness in the finish. This is complex, intelligent and enjoyable in the Great Lakes tradition, but it is not among the top tier of American IPAs.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pinky gold with virtually no head. Volatile, sweet floral aroma. Velvety, woody, well-buffered. The Brewmaster did an excellent job of buffering this out and balancing it. High ABV, but dry. Acids threaten, but are blunted. Medium body. Some off malt flavors at the end, but very good.
