First brew I’ve had from this brewery ...pours a nice copper with small bubbly head, low lacing, the nose is sweet malts and citrus ,has a nice balance of malts and hops with nice carbonation with malts leading the way and a nice hop bite at the back end with a slick finish, not bad considering I just realized the "best enjoyed by" date is a couple of months out and this beer is still pretty damn tasty I could imagine how much better a fresh bottle would be, ok enough rambling ....cheers

pours unclear bright and light golden with a nice creamy off-white head, good retention and lacing. spicy mangoes and citrus, lightly doughy honeyed malts, fruitiness - peaches and mangoes, tingling pepper, light phenols, slightly boozy. moderately low carbonation, light to medium body - oily, balanced grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. not explosive but nicely hopped and balanced!

Pours a clear light orange. A sweet grassy and light citrus hop aroma. Taste starts with fruity malt, citrus hops, grains, grass, and light caramel. A light hop and grainy aftertaste.

A good solid IPA. The hops presence is refreshing but not to powerful. Easy to drink and enjoyable. A good effort by Great Lakes

I’m not an ipa fan, but this one is pretty good. A little strong and sweet before the bitterness takes over

Poured from a bottle into a Great Lakes pint glass a golden yellow. Aroma is grassy sweet. Some citrus. Flavor is so better than an average IPA. Its grassy good & some slight sweet biscuit. Solid bitter end say s this is a good IPA. My go to IPA when I can’t get Bells 2 Hearted. :o) GL you certainly make OH ok for this west coast gal.

Pours clear, has a golden amber color, and laces my glass with foam. The aroma is of citrus grapefruit hops with an earthy tone. I picked up on scents of sweet bread like honey malts and a mild booze aroma. The flavor is of sweet malts, mild to medium levels of a lingering bitterness, hoppy flavor, semi dry finish, and weak booze. This beverage is nicely balanced and had a well flavorful body. Overall this is a good beverage, I?d have this again.

Transfer from BA review on 8-29-12 - Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass Appearance – Served a lightly hazed golden amber color with a one finger white head. The head had a decent level of retention but eventually fades to give a good level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is a nice blend of fruit and hop. The fruit is a mix of tropical aromas of pineapple and mango with hints of tangerine while the hop aromas is dominated largely by a grapefruit smell. While grapefruit is the strongest hop smell there is also a lighter earthy and floral note aroma as well. While the aroma is rather light overall for an IPA it is quite pleasant. Taste – The taste begins with a breadiness mixed with some of the tropical fruit and some grapefruit hop flavors. While sweeter in the beginning, the hops start to win out over the tropical fruit sweetness and the beer begins to bitter ever so slightly. Hop flavors of an earthy nature join the grapefruit which, in the end, leaves a nice balanced hop flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is just above average in creaminess. The carbonation level is quite average. The creamy body is nice for the malty and the hop flavors and makes it quite smooth on the tongue. Overall – A wonderfully tasty IPA. Very smooth flavor transitions and a great flavor profile. One to go to again and again.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle received in trade from a non-RB member. The pour is light to medium amber with a lasting off-white head. The aroma begins with a roasted malt character but becomes a bit strange with a buttery kind of hop scent. The body is medium. The taste also has this sort of biscuit start but the hops turn more floral than the aroma suggests.

Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA has a fairly thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, golden appearance, and a good amount of lace curtain left behind on the glass. The aroma is of semi-sweet white bread, some tart fruit, hop resin, and subdued barley. Taste is of all that, with a pronounced, yet not harsh, straight-forward hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA finishes on the dry side and decently drinkable. RJT
