Medium bodied and well hopped with dry, fruity aftertaste, this monumental India Pale Ale honors the hero from The War of 1812 who battled the enemy on Lake Erie.

First brew Iíve had from this brewery ...pours a nice copper with small bubbly head, low lacing, the nose is sweet malts and citrus ,has a nice balance of malts and hops with nice carbonation with malts leading the way and a nice hop bite at the back end with a slick finish, not bad considering I just realized the "best enjoyed by" date is a couple of months out and this beer is still pretty damn tasty I could imagine how much better a fresh bottle would be, ok enough rambling ....cheers

Another fantastic beer from Great Lakes that doesnít skimp on anything. Looks nice in the glass - hazy amber, white head. Nose is spicy hops, citrus and maybe pepper. The hop flavor is strong but not over-done, and with a definite tang. A really well-done brew that is not for the uninitiated but perfectly drinkable for IPA fans. Bonus points for being local and available all over the place here (NE Ohio), both bottled and on tap.

Un-Muzzling Olde Muzzlehatch Ratings, #36. 12 ounce bottle consumed in early August 2008. Pours a very clear dark gold, smallish off-white fizzy head...while thereís fruity in the nose and hoppiness, itís a less oily/juicier, drier sort of aroma, mixing apples, cherry, some light resinous elements and caramel...in the body itís solidly, strongly bitter throughout, more juicy and fresh-fruity than the nose would predict, but not at all syrupy...lightly effervescent, perfectly carbonated with a lovely fullness of body and yet extremely quaffable. Very solid, bordering on excellent; Iíve had it a few times since but probably not since 2012 or so and really should give it another go.

Pours golden orange with medium head. Very interesting aroma of malt (almost like wort, but in a pleasant way) coupled with ripe citrus fruit, in particular sweet oranges. Taste: very citrusy with a focus on oranges and lemon, followed by pleasant long hoppy aftertaste. Perfectly mirrors what English ipa is about. This beer is world-class.

On tap and bottle poured into a tulip glass. Golden color with an off white head and little to no visible carbonation. Aroma is mildly citrus with hints of apricot, caramel malt, and pine. Taste is a heavier on the pine with some floral notes and is a little peppery. Nice medium body and low but biting carbonation. Definitely enjoyed this more on tap but from the bottle is good too. Remarkably well balanced.

On tap at the Backyard Alehouse in Scranton. It pours a clear light golden color with an off white head. The aroma is lightly herbal with some grapefruit and citrus. The flavor is very herbal, lightly vegetal with some multigrain bread and toast. Biscuity malts. Itís a bit watery on the palate with low to medium bitterness. Meh.

Bottle at beastcraft BBQ and craft beer in Belleville. Very slight aroma but pours out a nice looking light Amber color. Tastes smooth and refreshing with a very manageable hop bite that lasts well into the aftertaste. Excellent palate, very drinkable. I've never had a Great Lakes beer before, based on this I would give them another try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of my man, Minh - at Lillianís first birthday party! Assertive bitterness with not too much palatable hop flavors. Lots of sweet malt, grains and spice. Somewhat generic overall - or maybe just stale.
