It looks straighforward good in the glass, maybe a bit dull somehow, but sure good, with its clear, golden body and an off-white cap. Hop dominates the aroma, with a good dash of pine, but there’s also maltyness. The flavor is even more on the hoppy side, quite fruity and very piney, leaving the malty flavors in the far back. That goes for the finish too, a long and bitter one. Full body. A lovely beer for a hophead, but maybe a one-dimentional. (071123) jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2006 From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb about a war that was a tie, except we won when Ol’ Hickory routed the British at New Orleans in overtime, a best before date of Sep.19.06 that I didn’t care too much about since I hadn’t tried this.
Poured a clear orangey copper with a foamy white head that settled into a thin soapy, sudsy lacing, a small amount of ringed sticking.
Aromas of grapefruit and hints of pine with light sweet maltiness in the background.
Good carbonation and a crisp, dry and smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
Good IPA taste, grapefruit and oranges that have a dry bitterness on the tongue, sweet grain malty with the lightest touch of caramel, the alcohol is well masked and provides a soft warmth in the throat and a dry hoppy finish.
This is a very quaffable IPA, another good beer from the Cleveland brewery, one of the better breweries in the United States.

Floral and citrus hops intermingle with caramel and bready malts but never overpower each other. Finishes crisp with a gentle bitter aftertaste. Nice job. illinismitty (1811), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours sparkling golden with a fizzy white head. Grapefruity aroma. Nice medium light mouthfeel. Hops take center stage in the flavor, which are piney and slightly citric. Bitter finish is semi dry, grassy, with some notes of hay. Pretty solid. gunnfryd (3643), Kristiansand, Norway
