Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA is on the border between dark gold and light amber. It’s crystal clear and quite sparkling. It’s topped with a dense white head, with rainbow bubbles, that fades to a film and leaves good lacing. It has a nice, bold, citrus-pine aroma, along with something herbal. It smells a little sweet, like Christmas cookies. Despite the "best by" date being passed, it smells fresh. It is medium bodied and very smooth. It has a creamy mouth feel that’s a little bubbly. It lightens up toward the end of the taste. It has a pretty dry finish that leaves the mouth a little sticky. It’s pretty well bittered and pretty well balanced. I suppose I would prefer a little more bitterness to go with this huge boozy quality. It’s a touch sweet. The flavor is mostly grapefruit and pine. The alcohol lends a black pepper quality.

350 ml bottle mail order from archer liquor. Clear beautiful honey amber color with a slight fizzy white head. Sweet grapefruit and spice aroma. Good caramel backbone, some white wine character, citrus and grape taste with a decent bitterness.

12 oz bottle, Wow a hidden gem! Did not have high expectation for this IPA. Excellent IPA, good balance! Poured a bit light with fluffy head, some lacing. Aroma jumped out immediately, smells of citrus, grapefruit, melons, hop freshness. Taste is soild, somewhat like a Jr. Two Hearted Ale. Balanced, and hoppy, although the after taste does not linger as much. An underrated IPA, in my opinion.

Bottle pours a golden color. Head dissapears quickley but glass laced beautifully. Tremendous hop flavor, with citrous and pine notes and a hint of malt flavor. The bitter aftertaste sits pleasantly on the roof of the mouth. This is one of the finest IPA’s I have had.

spicey hops on nosing, on palate hops take reins & whips the boys on the ship to fight like hell. finish is nice and fairly clean, would have rated a little higher if the alcohol would have been mellower on finish. very good beer.

On tap at Winking Lizard Crosswoods location. Pours clear copper/amber with a medium off-white head. Citrusy simcoe hop aroma with a teeny bit of malt balance. Bitter citrus flavor with a bit of bready malt and a lingering bitter finish.

Appearance: Very clear; Big, off-white head with a frothy, big-bubbled appearance; richer golden color compared to other IPA’s Aroma: More of a toasty, baked aroma compared to other IPA’s; almost coffee and cooked butter aroma Flavor: A lot of the same aromas come through on the flavor profile; fuller, richer taste; different than most other IPA’s but somehow still very attractive
