Rated 7/15/06: I’ve been hunting for this seasonal offering and was able to track some down. This is right in line with the Great Lakes way of brewing beer fantastic recipe, and a great angle on a wonderful style. Emptied a bottle into my glass and was given a richly golden colored ale with a thick fluffy white head that soon settles to a nice white film. Abundant lacing is present, and a lazy carbonation can be seen. As I smell the aroma I am rewarded with a biting hop scent of grapefruit and pine. This is pleasant and unexpected and it smells wonderful. This is considerably more citrusy than the average IPA. Mouthfeel is dry and smooth, not too thick so it goes down easy. The flavor is outstanding keeping in line with the aroma. An abundance of hops (cascade is an understatement) fill out this one with a real subtle malt backbone. Taste is mostly citrus grapefruits, nice and tart with an even amount of bitterness. Overall this is one of my favorite IPA’s and another score for one of my top brewers. Too bad it’s seasonal, if you come across it grab some!

Umm..juicy! I got a coolered 6 about 5 weeks past it’s "for freshest taste" date. Still color me impressed! The aroma is off the chain dank and slightly boozy. The hops present a variety of flavors. The malt is light hay and just a bit bready, it’s just there to help showcase the earthy hops. A delight! Clean off white head and beautiful lacing. Mouthwatering under the tongue, oily with a citrus bite at the roof and a soft lasting sting at the tip. NICE! I could go on and on about the nose. From mushrooms, to dried fruits and citrus..there’s a lot going on. I would call this a sipper, the alcohol is well present, but the more it warms the more it satisfies . SMaCK YUM! I’d wager that if I get this fresher my rating would be even higher. Hopheads put this in your favorite tulip!

Poured into a glass from bottle. Dark Amber pour with a small white head that dissipates fast, but laces down. Aroma is hoppy with caramel malt. Taste is similar to Aroma; caramel, bitter hoppy finish with some fruity characteristics.

Mooi goudblond bier, zeer kleine witte schuimkraag. Lychee in de neus. Citrus, hop, licht caramel of mout? Begint licht zoet, gaat naar medium tot zwaar bitter. Levendig co2, medium body.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear golden orange color with a nice 1 finger head that fades slowly, leaves some lacing. Citrus and berry fruit aroma with a light skunkiness. Taste is lots of citrus and berries too. Light sweetness, moderate bitterness. Fruity and stale malt finish. Pretty dry. Decent IPA.

Aroma is Hops and alcohol. Appearance is Light yellow, little head. Taste is dry and bitter. Notes of ash, wood, something floral. Clean feel with good carbonation. A nice beer, but missing a little something to make it stand out from the typical ipa.
