Bottle to a glass mug. Pours a clear dark yellow color with an off white head that dissipates quickly. Lots of good hop notes on the nose of citrus and pine. Same with the flavors. Nice mouthfeel, and it leans more to the hop bitter than the malt, although there’s a nice balance.

disclaimer: apparently the date on the bottle (otherwise unmarked) is a best by, not bottled on. so this beer was well past it’s prime, though freshly bought. high expectations and a bad 1st impression of this one. for the record, english ipas aren’t my first choice. the hop aroma at 43 degrees is nearly non-existent, and the beer poured as close to yellow as orange. athe flavor was better, fruit up front, with some bitterness in the finish. well rounded if not exceptional. the aroma opened up, but took far too long to do so. i can kinda sorta see why some people really like this one, but for me, it was close to average. not enough hop aroma or flavor for an IPA, and a slight disappointment from Great Lakes, of which there are few."

The aroma of this beer is extremely hoppy and smells like an array of herbs. The hops over power this beer to the point that all I taste is a bitter after taste. This is by far one of the stronger India Pale Ales I have tasted. Appearance-wise the color is golden with a cloudy disposition. Minimal head and minimal carbonation/fizz. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had on tap at PA Oktoberfest. Great tropical hop aroma. Light malty body. Tastes a lot like my home brew IPA.

Great Lakes Commodore Perry is an enjoyable IPA. Nice tropical fruit aroma coming from an amber pour with a fluffy white head. Taste has more tropical hop flavors with low bitterness. Commodore Perry is fit for the high seas or drinking under more mundane circumstances.

pours unclear bright and light golden with a nice creamy off-white head, good retention and lacing. spicy mangoes and citrus, lightly doughy honeyed malts, fruitiness - peaches and mangoes, tingling pepper, light phenols, slightly boozy. moderately low carbonation, light to medium body - oily, balanced grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. not explosive but nicely hopped and balanced!

Pours a clear light orange. A sweet grassy and light citrus hop aroma. Taste starts with fruity malt, citrus hops, grains, grass, and light caramel. A light hop and grainy aftertaste.
