Pours a clear amber-red with small white head. Smells of rich malt - toast, multigrain bread, hint of hazelnut. Taste is sweet and moderately bitter - bready malt with a bit of nuttiness. Very smooth.

[Tap] Reddish amber in color. Light carbonation and little head. Sweet and sticky caramel and brown sugar nose. Toasted breads, sweet fruits and floral flavors. Sweet and one-dimensional, but a nice palate at least.

bottle. clear amber with a small head. malty, crystal malt, sweet aroma. full bodied and chewy. nice and mellow carbonation. sweet crystal malt flavor and a pinch of roasted malt for color. mild floral hop and fruity yeast. a standard but highly drinkable beer. love a good irish ale.

Great lakes has better beers, first time I saw this decided to give it a whirl! Decent beer nothing special. Has alittle bit of a hoppy flavor for an irish ale.

From notes. On tap at Dan’s on March 14. The pour is a clear copper, almost garnet, with no head, other than a thin white quarter-sized island in the middle of the glass, and naturally there isn’t any head. The aroma is sweet with a good malt character and nice fruitiness in the middle of the nose. The flavor is malty and sweet at first on the tongue, then a little bitterness and almost a light hop take over in the middle before a malty caramel sweetness on the back end. The mouth feel is thin, with medium carbonation and a sweet, yet dry aftertaste.

Not much aroma, has a toasty malt caramel bite to the taste. Some nice smoke taste mixed in there, bit bitter aftertaste.

12 oz bottle poured into a pilsner & english pub glass. Aromas of caramel and dough emanate first, but then fade. A sugary, cola note pokes through next with a slight hint of a spice (clove?). A clear, crisp toasted bread aroma follows this, and finally, it settles on a grape-y, peach-y juice-like aroma. It should be noted that all these aromas are light, and, with the exception of the spice note I couldn’t quite pin, were fairly clear to an amateur such as myself (I justified an extra point beyond just average for that). The head is a notable, fluffy and soft, beaten egg-white texture (although light tan in color). The bubbles are a consistent micro-bubble that sits atop a clear, effervescent, honey-colored beer. There is a slight chill haze that, of course, fades as it warms. It leaves behind a moderate, micro-bubble lacing on the glass. The taste is a medium level of dry sweetness with a light bitter, and very very light sour note (lemon sour). This beer definitely has a dry quality to it that’s pretty evident in the initial palate-feel. It’s medium bodied, oily-light textured, with a soft, but zippy (soda-like) carbonation (in moderate amounts). The flavor is mostly a roasted nut, caramel, and grape candy character. It finishes with a blackened toast flavor which lingers, but it’s a mellow lingering.
