While certainly a craft brew, this amazingly tame style just sort of sits there on the table. It has nothing interesting to say. It just sits and listens. 30 I.B.U.’s and simple caramel matiness.

Good beer. Strong malt backbone with enough hop to make it crisp and easy drinking. Sweet aroma and flavor, maybe even a hint of honey.

Delicious Germanic-spirited beer that comes from such a dismal place like Cleveland!
THis is far from dismal fortunately as are most of Great Lakes beers ..
They seem to be having success across most of the board.
This one is really nice alone or with light German food i’d say .
I’m on the West coast of Canada at the moment and cannot find any Great Lakes for sale here, as they seem to keep most of the American micros out of the liquor stores. I intend on getting some when i’m back in States .
Party on !

Rerate: After finding it on tap I have to raise my rating a bit. This beer is very well rounded. It’s one of those brews you’d like to have if you were stranded on some island. Very refreshing, but somehow not lacking in complexity.
A great Ohio brew. My personal favorite when back in the heartland.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2003 Lovely on tap- with a dry taste, but smooth finish. Clean, and malty, mild but prominent hops. I like this one. Impressive beer for a style that originated somewhere else.

Lagers suck. With that said, this is one of the better ones. Not as good as Pilsner Urkwell, but crisp and easy drinking.

mmmmm....good stuff. Excellent color for a beer, with a nice bold taste. I’m always in the mood for one of these.

Not a big fan of the style, but indeed a pretty good beer. Fairly light on the palate, with spicy, floral hops barely coming through. Slightly malty witha fairly clean, but distinct finish.

This has become my favorite lager. Perfect balance between hops and malt. Gold color, decent head. Great hop aroma. Very clean, yet flavorful for a lager.
