[4991-20121207] Cask. Roasted wood malt aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Lightly roasted cherries and dry wood bitter malt flavour. Medium body. Tasty but has a bit of a cigarette note to it. (7/4/7/4/13) 3.5

cask at Coles, not sure if this is this beer. also had cherries. black pour, chocolatety roast & vanilla notes in aroma. creamy body, vanilla stands out, cherries not so much. Nice beer

Pours deep dark murky amber. Tan head with fair retention. Nose is full of vanilla, light roast. Taste is sweet from begining to end. Vanilla is enjoyable. Body is medium. This is a good brew, but just not as well put toghether as the origional.

Not sure if this is 100% the correct beer. Cask ale at Coles in Buffalo, NY as part of Coles annual cask fest. This was advertised as "Edmund Fitzgerald with Vanilla and Cherries". I found it to be good, had a deeper, more bitter feel to it than regular Ed Fitz. Not sure why. Definitely had the vanilla sweetness but I didn’t get a lot of cherry.

Cask version at Winking Lizard’s 4th Annual Real Ale Fest (03/24/12): Pours brown-black with a medium thick khaki head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of mineral water and faint vanilla and malt. Light to medium body with a sweet roasty character and notes of malt and vanilla. The finish is sweet with a toasted malt aftertaste. While tasting better than it smells, still falls short of expectations.

Sample at the 4th Annual Winking Lizard Cask Ale Festival on 3/24/12. Cloudy dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Vegetal and musty nose that gets better as it warms, bringing out notes of vanilla, chocolate and roast. Chocolate and vanilla flavor with some roast before an oaky finish. They didn’t say anything about it being aged/stored in oak, but I definitely got that in the flavor and I tried several samples after rinsing to make sure that and the weird nose weren’t remnants of a previous beer.
