Pleasing, not overpowering aroma. Nice dark color. Creamy head to go along with the rich creamy brew to follow. Not overboard on the coffee flavor either which can happen with these types. Overall very good.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2004 Tried this at the Boneyard in Cleveland. Absolutly beautiful beer. Big thick creamy head that lasted right to the end of the glass. Mouthfeel was thick and creamy. There was a very distinct flavor that I couldn’t really pin down. It was a good flavor that I very much enjoyed. There were also the standard chocolate and coffee flavors. A very beautiful and delicious porter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours nice and dark. Nose is coffee and hops. Mouthfeel is very thick. Any thicker and I would have to chew it. No real strong flavors, just a watery malty weak coffee.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap: Aroma is a little weak but is roasted coffee and light chocolate. Dark brown, virtually black. Outstanding tan head with great retention. Lasts to the end. Flavor is a watered down roasted coffee with light bitterness in the finish. Roasted coffee aftertaste. Chocolate that commercial description claims to have, really isn’t there.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2008 [draft - The Sharp Edge - East Liberty, PA] Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Strong coffee and chocolate aroma with roasted malts and hops throughout. Smooth taste begins with a slight hoppy bite but then goes quickly to a roasty middle and a slightly bitter coffee finish. Very good porter.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A great Porter, lots of roasted grain, coffee and chocolate flavors. Well balanced, smooth tasting. I recently renewed my acquantance with this brew. My memories were not exagerated. It is still good! I will make it a point of getting it again.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark black with a tan head. Very fragrant aroma, coffee, citrus hops, malt, and molasses/caramel. Flavor is full of choclate/coffee with a hard hit of hops! Very unique flavor, a decent filling of the palate. Nice porter.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. this has become a benchmark porter for me. it’s the color of a cola, about 24*L, dark dark brown, almost black with hints of red around the edges. the head is two fingers, dense, tan and follows the beer with pretty lace to the bottom of the glass. roasted malts, chocolate, and slight caramel flavor. hops are minimal, enough to carry through, crisp, quick hop finish, with lingering chocolate aftertaste. very nice.
