Deep garnet color with a persistent head. Chocolate malt aroma with slight caramel. A good bodied beer full of malt flavor. Very drinkable.

seymour (1857) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - JUN 2, 2016
Shared from a brown bottle into sampler glasses, it poured a near-opaque dark brown colour with moderate off-white foam and lace. Malty, grainy, caramelly, toasty, roasty, nutty, strong dark stone fruit esters. Grassy and citrusy hops. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation, delicious balanced aftertastes. Extremely tasty and moreish, an excellent Americanized porter.

One of the best porters Iíve tried. Rich dark malt aromas and flavors, hops in the background, and a finish that is quite long.

Nice color, decent head that sticks around. Inviting, roasty aroma, with a hint of hops. Surprisingly bitter taste, though. Dang, I was really hoping to like this one, but the bitterness was just too much for me.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2016 Bottle. Average carbonation. Prominent coffee aroma and flavor. Weak chocolate and malt flavors. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish. Not as flavorful as the best of the porters, but still very good overall.

Very dark brown, nearly black, beer with a light tan, sparse head. Aromas of roasted coffee and chocolate. Hops provide a generalized bitterness. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium to somewhat full body; oily/creamy texture; average carbonation; finish is long with coffee and chocolate. Overall a pretty good Porter; I like the chocolate and coffee flavors though itís not especially complex.

dambor (371) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAR 15, 2016
Pours dark with medium head. Aroma: a burst of chocolate and coffee, some raisins, vanilla, dark fruit and of course raosted malt. Taste: chocolate and coffee dominate, making this beer compley but at the same time drinkable. Great.

Many thanks to Erzengel for sharing!
Pours very dark brown colour with a mid-sized creamy good lasting beige head. Aroma of dark roasted malt and coffee. Taste of dark roasted malt, coffee, some bitter hops, tons of vanilla in the aftertaste, nice stuff!

Many thanks to my "Santa 2015" jsquire for this bottle! The beer starts malty and dry. Very intense dry with a great dry caramel and chocolate aroma. Moderate bitterness, soft, round and fresh. Intense aftertaste with dry roasted caramelly malts and espresso with a great full and rich body. Fantastic.
