Dark brown, ruby-tinted pour. Big off-white head. Plenty of lacing. Roasted aroma with some malty undertones. Taste is malty with a carbonic bite in the end. Not bad.

Pitch black with aromas of chocolate, dark roast, coffee, etc. Flavor follows from the aroma. All flavors and aromas are in perfect balance. Very enjoyable.

Pours a deep dark brown. It looks like a stout. Nice foamy tan head. Aroma in faint. A little roasty. Taste; wow, great. Roasty coffee a hint on chocolate. Nice.

On tap in Alpena Michigan. Review from notes A - Black body, with 1 finger of creamy tan head. S - Coffee, creamy chocolate, roasted malts, dark bread, yeasty T - Follows the nose with creamy chocolate, cold coffee, roasted and roasted malts. Hops are there to support but stay in the shadows of the chocolate and coffee duo. The chocolate turns to to a more bitter bakers chocolate toward the dry finish. M - Very creamy feel, lushes sudsy carbonation, dry bitter finish. My 1st beer from Great Lakes and it will not be my last. There’s not alot going on, the chocolate and coffee are the stars and the are showcased very well. Serving type: bottle 11-16-2013

Bottle received by my secret summer Santa 2013. Thank you jsquire! Pours dark reddish brown with a thin slightly fizzy beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with roasted malts, sweet dark bread, burnt wood, caramel, smoke, moist soil, molasses, hay, sweet liquorice candy, coffee, cocoa powder and lemon zest. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, caramel, sweet dark bread, brown sugar, burnt wood, moist soil, minerals, bitter chocolate, burnt cereal, golden syrup, smoke, dark roast coffee, wet stone, moss, hay and lemon peal. Mouthfeel is round, tiny watery, slightly dry, soft and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, pumpernickel bread, burnt wood, moist soil, hay, burnt caramel, smoke, bitter chocolate, dark espresso coffee and wet stone. Great balanced robust porter!
