"The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down of the big lake they called ’Gitche Gumee.’ " Or can you seriously say that Gordon Lightfoot isn’t rambling through your head when you pick up this beer? The ’Edmund Fitzgerald Porter’ likely takes it’s name from the fateful ship and not the folk-fried song and yet it is nevertheless a fantastic porter in it’s own right. A porter in the American tradition, it emphasizes the sharper, edgier, aspects of a porter.

Pours a highly carbonated dark cola. Brown cream head. Licorice and toasted oat aroma. Toasted oatmeal cookie taste with balanced licorice bitter. Light and slightly sticky mouthfeel with a light chocolate aftertaste.

Pours a deep brown with minimal head. Aroma is sweet. Toasted malt with hints of caramel and toffee. Toasted malt flavor leads before the coffee and chocolate come in. Nice dry, dark chocolate finish with a clear hop presence. Very good.

One of my favorites. Great flavor yet still smooth enough to drink all day. I recommend it.

Pours a dark brown. Consistency is thin, slightly oily with very thin head and some lacing. The aroma is somewhat sweet and pleasant. There is some carbonation and a slight bitter aftertaste. I did not like this very much. It was too light for a Porter and the bitterness was not very enjoyable.

Dark brown pour with a white head. The aroma has milk chocolate and coffee. It has a medium body with sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet with a more roasted finish.

Nice subdued flavor. A tiny bit smokey. Nice sweet bitter kick. Smells sweet like molasses. Slightly creamy.

Roasted coffee and chocolate billow out from the pour. Dark carbonated light lacing with toasty finish. Was looking for a nice sweet finish but was suprised with a toffee dryness. Good offering but just was hoping for a photo finish.

Has a nice coffee aroma. It has a slightly strong coffee taste but not as sweet as other porters. Slightly bitter after taste.

Bottle. Dark brown with a medium off-white head. Stong chocolate aroma. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly sweet with hints of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Just a great, smooth porter.
