3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown to black with some ruby highlights. The dense thin tan head disapates to a thin ring around the glass. Big roasty aroma with chocolate and coffee notes. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, and vanilla cola. Moderate hop bitterness that kicks in at the finish. Medium body and carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth with some tingling from the carbonation and hop bitterness. Nice blend of roasted malt and hop bitterness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle from cellar. Pours a dark reddish brown with 1 finger tan head. Aroma - dark chocolate, dark dried fruits, slight hint of yeast. Taste - dark chocolate, coffee, malt, little earthy in the middle. Finish is moderately long and segues from coffee, to malt, and back to coffee. Carbonation is lively and a touch prickly on the palate and down the back of the throat. Not my favorite porter, but probably in the top 10.

Part of a flight, on draft. Clear dark brown pour with a small head. Nose is roast/coffee, malt. Flavor follows with a bitter finish. Decent but probably over-rated on this website.

Very good porter, smoky toasted malt, good lacing, head was a little weak but still not bad, from pint glass.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught. Not much head. Aroma is very nice rich light roast and sweet. Flavor packs more roast, light wood, light milk sweetness and lactic bit. Feel is slick and a little wooden. All around lovely beer. Simple in the best way.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with faint beige head. Aroma of Toasted oats, dark chocolate, sweet floral hops. Taste is roasted earthy coffee, a tinge lactic, oh-so clean (maybe it is the water, after all..). Could drink all night. A workmanlke beer. Exemplary for the style. Great Lakes’ best year round offering.
