3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a really dark brown with a little red around the edges and a small tan head. Lots of milk chocolate on the nose, nice coffee and toasted malt, a slight nuttiness and surprisingly hoppy. Nice hoppy nuttiness up front on the taste, strong coffee note, light chocolatey taste and slightly sweet toasted malt. Delicious, though I still think Founders might have done a better job.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a dark brown with beige head. Good lacing on sides of glass. Nice roasted malt aroma with chocolates and coffee. Very smooth tasting with a nice long lasting and clinging taste palate. Dark chocolate and coffee flavors with some caramel. Very nice porter. One of the best I've had.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark with slight head. Full bodied taste of smokey caramel (some chocolate) ending in coffee. Unlike most porters, no bitterness/bite. Hence, strong brew but very drinkable.

I’ve just been drinking a hoppy IPA, I think my palate is ruined and I’ll probably have to re rate this. I’m getting overwhelming floral notes with fresh-squeezed orange juice, a little bit of bitter chocolate underneath. Like I said, probably gonna have to re-rate this.
UPDATE: After a cigarette and some water, I got a better idea of this beer. Still some floral notes, but far more subdued. Roasted barley, bitter chocolate now dominate, it tastes more like a porter. Good beer.

Pours inky black with small, quickly disappearing beige head. Aroma is bitter chocolate, roasted malts and slight coffee. Taste is porter to the style. Silky mouthfeel, roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate and just a hint of coffee. Great beer at a great price.

Bottle. Pours dark dark brown, you can slightly see through it if you hold it too light, khaki head, very small wall of lace. Nose is roasty, reminds me of my mash tun. Tastes light, sweet, sugar and roast.
