3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black in color with shades of red at the edges of the glass. Thick, resilient tan head. The flavor is complex - hoppier than usual for the style. Roasted malts, medium sweetness, & a hint of coffee. Medium bodied. The finish is a little bitter (in a good way). Another great beer from an under-appreciated brewery.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great porter, nothing experimental about it, just the right amounts of coffee/chocolate/toast taste. Probably the only good thing about Cleveland.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bitter at the start. Drank from a bottle. Perfect notes of chocolate and coffee with a bit of sweet in the end.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep cola appearance with a thin tan head. Roasted yet sweet aromas are softer and more appealing than a stout. Some hops begin to come out in the flavor and provide a contrasting bitter undertone. Thick and soupy mouthfeel is delicious in a darker beer. Great stuff!

I’ve recently heard about this beer in the local paper so while visiting the Blue Dog I picked one up.
Well, this beer pours with a great tan head, dark brown in color. When held up to a light I can barely see through it.
Good head rentention, very good actually and excellent lacing.
Rich malts provide a complex aroma. I can pick out cofee and espresso and chocolate from the roasted malts.
This porter is smooth and rich in flavor, what you smell is what you get baby.
Coffee and espresso up front with a nice chocolate finish.
A good cooking beer for stews and chili.
Drink well my friends

Bottle. Taste- robust is a good word for this. Chocolatey, coffee and hard water. Prominently hopped. Great porter.

First time drinking and it lives up to the hype. Hints of cocoa and chocolate. Very easy drinking...makes me wish I had bought a 6pk instead of a single bottle!

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
It appears dark and opaque. It has a dark black color with deep crimson highlights when held up to light. The head is tan, thick and foamy with good retention. Some light tan lace slowly sides down the glass, chasing the head, as I drink. The aroma is full and rich. It has notes of caramel with a strong dark roasted malt presence that has a deep roasted espresso character. Its flavor has deep chocolate roasted malts with flavor notes of coffee and cream with bittersweet chocolate. The hops play well off the malt and further develop the bittersweet chocolaty flavors before slowly fading out into the finish. The palate is smooth, creamy and slightly slick with mild carbonation and a medium to full body. Outstanding. This porter is one of my personal favorites, with a wonderful balance of flavors and drirkability. I would highly recommend this as a stand alone drink or even pairing it with your favorite chocolate.
