PisskyNight (13), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2004 Appearance: the closest to black from a brown color you can get with a 1/4 inch baige head that holds a fair covering layer throughout consumption
Smell: oh yea....Dark roasted chocolate covered peanuts....burnt caramel...soothing creme brulee...toffee notes are quite apparent....various diacetyl flavors seep in and out of notation...
Taste: oh boy...this is grand....top notch coffee grounds....majestic chocolate puree...milk from the finest cow...hehe....so smooth and well balanced....rich and robust to say the least....I really like the fact that is not overly bitter and far from cloyingly sweet...
Notes: Such a fine offering and great job to the brewers at GLBC ....get some if you can folks!
checkmatei1 (254), Willow Grove, USA Oct 6, 2008 Draft @ Capones: Poured a dark dark brown with not much head. The aroma was chocolate roasted malt. The flavor was chocolate, nutty, sweet and malty. Delicious! Overall and excellent Porter. Jmichael (578), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 pours a dark black brown, mild head, dry palate with chalky feel, light sessionable quality, rather smooth. undsioux7 (505), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours deep brown with a small head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Very fizzy almost coke like in taste. A little thin with toasted malt and chocolate in the taste. Dry finish. Wasn’t expecting the carbonation, which was th eonly downside to this one. Pawola22 (92), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Oct 4, 2008 12 oz bottle.
Rosy and dark brown pour with a small, fizzy, dark brown head that leaves quickly and remains slightly lacy. The aroma is heavily malt backed with some notes of roast, sweet and dark chocolate, and a bit of mocha. There is a presence of bittering hops too. Light bodied with a standard watery porter taste. Not complex at all. Roasty, chocolate, coffee...the usual. Slightly more bitter than most, leaving a nice and dry aftertaste that lingers for a decent amount of time. Overall, nothing to write home about, but not bad. Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 OK this brewery is starting to wow me. Rich black brown with slight red tint when held to light. Not much head. Aroma is rich in chocolate malt and is pure and toasty. Fairly fizzy and carbonated. Clean, toasted chocolate malt flavors. Slight hint of bourbon. Excellent off-dry finish is more-ish. Very robust, hearty, toasty, and good. No nonsense.
