Stine (1168), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA May 12, 2008 Pours clear, amber red. Aroma of soft, toasty caramel malts. Lagered touches of overripe red fruits and pears, with a drying waft of noble grassiness. White pepper. Toffee. Pristinely clean. Flavor of deep, toasty grains, slightly buttery, soaked in this calm, soothing fruit tone of blackberry and apple. Glowing malt characters arrange themselves with artful care and precision. Almost contemplative in its ease and simplicity. Like fresh baked wheat bread, buttered warmly and lightly spiced, and taken with a side of unsweetened cranberries. Medium body is generous and expansive in the mouth. Finishes very cleanly, with the lightest kick of noble hops drawing out. A smart, comfortable, pitch-perfect vienna. Thanks Bill! Mad_Indian (732), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle from Canals, Coppery amber pur with a caramel malt aroma. Sweet malt flavors that actually taste full in the mouth. There is a bitter finish to it but I liked it. xnoxhatex (702), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 7, 2008 Sample at West Lakeview Liquors, Chicago, Great Lakes Tasting. Interesting to see that this is the top-rated vienna. Good job Great Lakes. Darker amber color with medium off-white head. Aroma is very much caramel and noble, spicy hops. Flavor is along the same lines with some graininess as well. Medium to thin body and well carbonated. Not bad. nitroz680 (31), Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 Pretty bitter, as compared to the typical beer i drink, but very good. you can definitely taste the caramel and the hops. i had this out of a great lakes variety pack. i probably wouldnt buy it as its own six pack, because i like to drink a bunch of this flavors at a time. dutch23mp (54), Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA Apr 26, 2008 Updated: Apr 29, 2008Tap good aroma pours with a thin white head taste of hops is just right a nice winner for this brewery. I shall get this on tap again when I visit this restaurant
