3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark "merlot" color. With a small white fluffy head. Aroma of light malt and spice. Flavor is deep and rich, malt. Alcohol and spicy hops also present. Palate is very full. A very nice brew!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber color with a light tan head. The nose shows malt as the main thing, but there is a nice little bit of spice underneath the carmel notes. Very smooth on the palate, with soft carbonation. Flavors of carmel and a touch of dark fruit up front and a clean, dry finish. Super beer. I wish everyone could try this at least once.

Nose is nice rich brown sugar malt, hoppier than I expected. Very nice sweet rich malt. A little dusty. Brown sugar, plum, a little alcohol. Bitter at the back of my tounge. Damn fine

Not a huge fan of lagers, but this stuff is super. Great amber color and rich head. Great malty aroma.

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2006 Tried at the Boneyard in Cleveland. Prolly the best looking Amber I have ever tried. Almost a glowing amber color with a thick foamy had with great lacing and retention. I was in a bar, so there were far too many other smells to really pin down the nose. Taste was clean, smooth, with good body and very nice flavor.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Hazy bright reddish-copper color with a nice light tan head that last, leaves great lacing in my glass. Toasted nut and brown sugar aromas, nutty caramel flavors, medium bodied with a full and creamy mouthfeel, perfect carbonation, finishes clean with some sweetness. I believe this is the best amber lager I have ever had.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Perfectly clear, brilliantly ambered hue...delicate, diaphonous lacey, foam, elegantly drifting down in size...aroma bursts out from first cracking the crown, fruity, yeasty, malty, a perfect combination...beautiful...soft, yet still a little spicy...
Time to drink up!
Mmmm!Nice, little hoppiness, then the mouth is washed over with caramel malt, toasty, rich, and smooth...notes of cherries and nuts on the palate...light bodied, but with a luscious, ever-tasty finish, clean and easy, but quite happy in the mouth.
Oh, this is good! Ohioans, you must be slap-happy to have this around, the best amber lager to slip past my lips!

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2004 Bottle ...thanks Brooklynboy...I may have made a mistake by waiting for oktoberfest to crack this beer (dated best befrore Sept 29 ) but I wanted to stack it against some Oktoberfest Vienna/Marzen/Oktoberfest beers out this time of year....It came out flying despite the 10 day lapsed freshness date. 2 inch deep sand colored sticky cap after a hard pour. Beautiful deep copper-red hue. Nose is of toffee-caramel sweet graininess, slight wisps of spicy-mustiness. Nice substantial chewy malt delivery up front...silky mouth feel...malt sweetness is kept in tow with woody, rustic hop departure leaving a light toasty- toffee and fresh cut maple impression. Finish is moderate with the hops coming forward and leaving a musty sweet toasty taste. Damn fine rendition of the Vienna style....I wish this was available in Ontario, It would be my favorite Fall quaff.
