2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Got a bottle from civforprez. Pours a dark amber with very little head. The light aroma made me think of cheddar cheese. This has a thin body with a flour-y mouthfeel. The taste is slightly bitter with a cheesy finish. This is more interesting than most ambers.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours red with no head. There is a noticeable amount of yeast in the aroma, not much else. Flavor is of malt and barley, with a sweet finish. Disappointing compared to other Great Lakes lagers.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pretty, clear mahogany with a yellow khaki head that builds up nicely but fades quickly. Toasted malty aroma is followed by a lightly sweet toast flavor with a bit of bright hop bitterness in the finish. Great Lakes really excels with its lagers.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2005 Deep, vaguely hazy reddish-copper, with a thin, nicely firmed lasting head. Great nose, very malty with lots of caramel, also a bit sweet. Wonderful flavor, simply huge malts, nicely caramel-sweet with butterscotch and maybe a slight bit of apple tartness. Palate is the best part, very sticky and full. Great, great stuff, currently voted in as the best lager I’ve ever had. I would bathe in this on a daily basis had I that option.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A sharp, well-rounded malt fest, with dark brown sugar, toast, biscuits, maybe some caramel. Slighty woody, herbal hop overtones. Smooth, firm mouthfeel. Great sandwich beer. Thanks to cb and TAR for a great night out!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bright copper color with slight reddish tint, medium white head that dissipated quickly. Sweetish malty aroma, hints of pine. Rich and malty, dark and sweet, like eating a loaf of bread. Ever so slightly roasted, tobacco, buttery smooth. Lingering bread finish, little bit metallic. Very well balanced. Delicious! Great Lakes brings the lager to the US.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light amber color with an off white head. Aroma is carmel and malty. Malty flavor profile with a thicker palate. Slight clove taste which detracts, but overall a good beer.
