12 oz bottled dated "enjoy by" 5-5-2012 (rated Jan. 2012 - from notes) Pours nearly black. Clear, not cloudy. Small, short-lived tan head. Very aromatic, with a strong dark chocolate component. The chocolate remains in the flavor, but takes a backseat to the coffee. Both of these, as well as a spicy hop note, are secondary to a rich dark malt base. O: excellent, if not up to world class renditions such as Founders Breakfast Stout.

Pours a dark black with light brown head. Has a heavy coffee and chocolate aroma. The beer is smooth and creamy with heavy chocolate, coffee, some dark alcohol and light grains. A bit of an espresso aftertaste, but nothing overwhelming.

Aroma: Chocolate + light coffee roast, a bit of oak and waffle cone, a touch of smoke. Appearance: Dark ruby black with a creamy tan head. Flavor: Matches the nose; fairly dried out but not secco, roast and chocolate are most apparent with a little waffle cone as well. Palate: Medium body, very creamy texture, average carbonation, long finish. Overall: Wonderful beer.

Draft: I can’t get enough of this... Aromas are roasty chocolaty, tobacco... Caramel. Lovely flavor, very roasty... Coffee and chocolate. This is what a stout should be to me. Nice sweetness over the top of everything. Lovely.

Lothore (455) - California, USA - MAR 29, 2014
A- Bottle is dated 4/05. Pours a deep black hue with a small coffee head which dissaptes quickly. S-Smell is very sweet, caramel, roasted malt, coffee. T- Tastes is dominated by roasted malt but rounded out by a deep sweetness that sticks around for quite a while. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This has aged extremely well. Flavors are all very mellow and has perhaps gotten a little too sweet but it was tasty none the less.

Pours black with tan head. Aroma is smoky. Flavor is roasted malts with quite a bit of bitterness, Not a lot of smoke in the flavor, unlike the aroma. Good alcohol warming. Full bodied. Very good Imp Stout.
