Des malts aux racines profondes et multiples, de l’écorce d’orange, une amertume moyenne et un ensemble difficile à cerner.

Nice undertones of smoke in the aroma and flavor. Good hop profile as well. Enjoyable and another fine GL beer.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Goodnight Irene’s in Wildwood, NJ - Like the description says it was hoppy and smoky, also a bit malty. Not bad, but not a favorite either.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear amber with thin rimming lacy white head; aroma is subtly smoky with a hint, just faint hint of fruit(cherry?); Flava is mildly but distinctly smoky reminiscient of kielbasa; feels medium with fizzy foam; finishes dry and mild with hopy bitter notes

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated on 7-30-2011 at Bock & Rock in Minster, OH. This beer has a small vanilla head that mostly diminishes, hazy dark yellow body, fast rising carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, light smoke, hops, and sweet. The taste is moderately sweet, caramel, hops, and light smoke. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is light-medium bodied. A different take on this style with the addition of some smoke presence. Interesting beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2014 Sampled on draft at Rivertowne this beer poured a dark caramel-orange color with a large creamy orange-tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with notes of smoke and hickory. The flavor was tangy and sweet hickory, smoke, bread, malt, and had a bitterness throughout. Medium length sweet and tangy hickory finish. Medium body. Ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a transparent vibrant orange with foamy eggshell head. Smells mildly hoppy with a bit of smoke. Tastes like it smells, but more robust. Solid on the palate. An interesting take on the style.

Pours a light dark amber. Has a smoky oak aroma. Taste is very unique with little hops and strong oak and smoky malt. A lingering smoky aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep amber/bronze pour. Nose of salty smoked malts and caramel malt. Flavor is smoked meat/salty cheese that finishes with caramel malt and citrus hop bittering. Medium body. Smoke and pale ale flavors really meld together well with further drinking. Trail of salty smoke and candied citrus. Rather enjoyable.
