3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 1FastSTi (3172) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 1, 2011
Tap at Sugar Maple. The beer has a nice beechwood type smoked malt. Clean malt flavor. The palate leaves a dry smoky and lightly oily component. The aroma is pretty smoky. This beer needed to warm up quite a bit before showing it’s hand. Really reminds me of beer from Bamberg.

This poured a medium amber color with a beige head. Aroma was nice medium bitter/citrus hops with a nice mellow smokienes to it too. Flavor was a great balance of caramel malt, citrusy hops, and light smoke. Very interesting stuff.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Capa (1908) - Manama, BAHRAIN - JUN 10, 2011
Orange with a white head. Light smoke, sweet malt, and fruity nose. Noticeable smoke in flavor but not ham like, just a solid hint. Bitter citrus hops, lightly sweet malts. Real interesting and a smoked beer I could go a few rounds with.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 15, 2010
Enjoyed on tap at the brewery in a pub glass. The beer pours a medium amber color with a moderate white head. Subtle hop character comes through in the aroma, mimicking the English version of pale ale, rather than the more aggressively hopped American variant. This is also reflected in the more prevalent level of malt character in the nose: subtle caramel. The palate also reflects the more malty and subtle characters of English pale ale. Earthy hop flavor comes through, as does a level of bitterness that is fairly light, and mostly overshadowed by malt. The description includes smoke, but this is undetectable. The finish is clean and about neutral. Overall, a nicely crafted beer that lacks any outstanding characteristic in either the positive or negative realm.

reddish brown with large white head. hoppy nose. moderate carbonation. some bitterness before herbal and citrusy hop notes, touch of crystal malt, perhaps a little smoke towards the end, but nothing i would discern if not told. decent version of the style
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 fiver29 (1025) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - MAR 27, 2009
On tap at the brewery pours amber/brown color with off white head. Aroma is not that impressive. Mostly grain with a hint of smoke. Has a medium mouthfeel. Flavor is smoke, caramel, and finishes with a touch of hops. This is a nice brew. Its a bit different that’s for sure. The components described are all there, but just seem a little wierd and don’t necessarily balance each other as well as I’d like. And its a bit too sweet. But still nice to drink.

Reddish brown pour, thick tan head w/ sticky lace. Grainy plain aroma, w/ a touch of smoke. Avg pal. Smoky flavor some light grains, touch of grass in the finish. odd but ok.
