Draft. Nice looking pour, cloudy amber orange with a small white head. Banana, clove, and Belgian yeast are the primary components of the nose and flavor. A little bread and wheat to fill it out. Full bodied, smooth, crisp, and well-balanced. Alcohol is mostly hidden but shows up a pinch on the palate. Excellent seasonal from an excellent brewer, I’ll be waiting for this one to come back around.

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - OCT 8, 2004
On tap at Great Lakes. Hazy caramel color, lightly reddish, with little head. Bananas and caramel dominate the strong nose, with a bit of strawberry eddying in the background. Smooth, lightly smoky/tarry, quite malty, burnt caramel and rum-soaked bananas, alcohol well-hidden, fairly dry for the style....outstanding.

GABF 2007: Poured a hazy brown-yellow color. The aroma had a hint of banana, wheaty citrus and some sweetness. Wheaty flavor with a nice banana note. Medium bodied.

TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - JUL 10, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of Binnys (Orland Park, IL). Pours a hazy dark amber, small offwhite head that films, laces some. Aromas are banana and clove off the bat, flaked wheat and softer esters, a hoppy floral feel works in as well. Pleasant. Initial is a bit darker and toasted on the malts, bringing banana esters and cloves into the body for a pleasant combination. Grainy wheat, smooth and a firm yet lighter body than expected wth light spiciness. Bringing up light bitterness, largely a smooth body, fruity and malts, very pleasant and fuller. Finish is light bitter and a bit darker malt. Not bad at all.

notalush (4173) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 26, 2010
Hazy reddish brown - thick, frothy lace - doughy, yeasty nose, with notes of cloves and overripe pears and apples - mildly acidic kick starts the flavor, followed by some wheaty tang, but overall, the flavor is quite sweet for most of the experience - especially in the finish, where it becomes a bit much - a lot of overripe apple in the flavor - mid to low levels of yeast phenols in the form of clove and bubblegum - finishes with a little brown sugar - quite good, but the sweetness is a little too much.

arminjewell (4159) - Saudi Auroria, Colorado, USA - OCT 13, 2011
Poured hazy orange-ish yellow with white head, aroma picked up nice notes of biscuit, honey, spicy clove, banana, some other slight fruity esters with a touch of toasted bread as well. Taste is some slight roasted malt, nice rich clove and banana leading into a hint of biscuit and toffee, finishing fairly dry but a bit sweet.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3977) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 11, 2009
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a ruby chestnut color with a medium sized khaki head that lingered. The aroma was malty, sweetish and had notes of banana bread, citrus and clove. The flavor was spicy and moderately sweet with notes of citrus, clove, banana and red wine. The finish was medium length and the body was thick and full. Well done.

12oz from goryshkewych. Pour opaque amber- caramel color with a white head. Nose is bread, brown sugar, spice, and banana. Flavor is brown sugar and banana up front with bread, caramel, and fizz in the rear. Medium-bodied and enjoyable sweet weizen bock. Nice wheat flavor present in addition to the sugary bock ness. #950.

JaBier (3729) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2009
On tap at the Great Lakes dinner at the Bethel Rd Winking Lizard on 6/11/09. Opaque amber pour with a big white head. Aroma is a bushel of bananas (can bananas be measured in bushels?) with caramel and sweet malts and some spice. Caramel flavor up front with a hint of whiskey, lots of banana and just a smidge of hop dryness. Sweet finish with clove and some other spices. Not my favorite style, but I can tell it’s well-made.
