Tap at the brewpub. Aroma: Ginger jumps out strong. Lemon, pepper, graininess, a touch of yeast. Also getting a slight tomato aroma. Appearance: Pale gold in color and hazy. White head was medium and frothy with some good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Again, the ginger comes out swinging. Pepper, lemongrass, Citrus, wheat grains, and slight yeast. As in the nose, I’m getting a slight vegetalness. Palate: Light bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Finish was crisp and fairly clean. Overall: Just ok. Nice ginger and lemon flavor , but a lurking vegetal character that I didn’t like at all.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours pale golden with a short white head that stayed pretty well and laced some. Very interesting aroma of ginger, and lemon over light grains. Flavor is lots of ginger and some lemon. Refreshing and crisp on the palate. An interesting ale to say the least..
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 5, 2005
On tap at the brewery. A little hazy, but mostly clear, pale and gold. Tiny bubbles separate a thin, white sheet of a head. Nice aroma with banana, cloves, lemongrass, nutmeg, cinnamon and some citric zing. Flavor pulls through with cinnamon and ginger, along with a vanilla crème and banana smoothie complexity. Enjoyable.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 NVBeer232 (467) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 16, 2004
Golden color. Lots of ginger in the nose, with a little touch of lemon. Slightly malty, but all the ginger in it masks those flavors as it warmed. Crisp citrus bite. Full of ginger flavors on the finish. Not really a big fan of ginger, but I found this pleasing because the ginger wasn’t totally over the top or the only flavor detectable in the beer.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Drew (2413) - Kent, Ohio, USA - AUG 5, 2004
Bright gold, short white head (well, the pint was very full, not much room for head), some lacing. Aroma is strong ginger, citrus and spice. Taste is light, but not too light bodied; lemony lime sweet sugar malts with a spicy finish - it seemed like the ginger bite didn’t kick in until 10 minutes later. A really nice hot weather brew.
