Great Lakes Holy Moses White Ale

Not about to part any new seas of flavour, but definitely hits all the right notes! Monster, rapid carbonation with a light, fluffy head, nice straw cloudiness. Slight citrus sweetness upfront followed by a dry and very mild coriander note with a bit of ginger. Crisp yet yielding, very refreshing, a bit dull but pleasant...like a trip to grandma’s.

Poured a pretty cloudy golen color. Sweet citrus aroma. Taste was a bit funky to me. Definitely sweet fruity wheat, but something in the ending I just didnt care for. Not a favorite of mine.

I found it really, really difficult to get into this one. I’m thinking that I got an older bottle. Anyways, the aroma was really off. Soapy as a bar of Irish Spring with a small punch of spices to it. Appearance was a bright orangish/yellow with a cloudy consistancy, nice fluffy off-white head. Beer had a nice feel on the palate. Flavor was orange zest, a bit more soap (perhaps it was carry-over from the aroma) and some really weak floral qualities (almost like chewing on old roses). Overall, I’ll pass on this. While nothing gut-retchingly horrible, it doesn’t do GL any favors.

Top 3 of my all-time favorite light ales..this beer makes me proud to be born and raised in ohio.

Poured from a 12-oz bottle a cloudy golden color with a nice white head. Could smell coriander and orange. Taste of citrus flavors with orange standing out. Also could detect some spicy hints.

How I love a good wheat! Lots o carbonation with this Great Lakes offering. Nice yellow gold color with a big soapy head that hangs around for a while. Aroma is sweet and floral with some spice. Very nice. Coriander and citrus dominate the flavor. Flavor is a carbon copy of the aroma. The spice gives a unique bitterness. A hint of tartness can be felt in the tip of the tongue. Surprisingly dry.

Pours light yellow with a small head. Aroma is quite crisp. Light malts, wheat, grains and spices. Flavor is similar to the aroma. Light malts, floral, and hops. Pretty decent overall. Good summer beer.

Light golden with nice lacing for this style. Grassy smell and taste with lot’s of citrus peel. Definately above average with nothing weird going on in this one. Pepper hangs on in the end.
