wxman (582), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Feb 20, 2007 Pours a pale cloudy yellow with a decent white head. Spicy aroma. Taste is sweet malt, citrus and coriander. A very good Belgian; much better than Blue Moon. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 14, 2007 Much too sweet for my liking a hard layer of glop stuck to the bottom of the the bottle. The herbalspice flavor was unmemorable. Why bother? LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 25, 2007 I picked this up out of curiousity..knowing I don’t care for this style much. To rate objectively...it is not that bad. The pour was a crisp yellow with a white finger head. The aroma was spicy and wheat. The taste was sweet n’ wheat. I was skeptical about my neighbors to the west (of me) attempting a Begian White but they did it with class. I don’t particularly care for the style but as far as the style goes..not too shabby. This beer can’t part the sea...but maybe the Ohio River. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 22, 2007 On tap at the brewery. The pour reveals a hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Very refreshing and enjoyable aroma and flavor of citrus and herbs. The palate is light and creamy while the carbonation is gentle. A well-done witbier. verymerrymonk (255), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 15, 2007 Pours a cloudy blond with a healthy white head - looks really nice. Aroma is sweet with bananas and sugar. A little too sweet for me, and the sweet aftertaste was unappealing. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Jan 12, 2007 12oz bottle. Hazy golden color with a medium sized rocky head. Coridander, citrus zest, and a myriad of fruity esters in the aroma. Perfumey veneer over a sweet orangey flavor, wheatish characteristics begin to manifest. Residual sweetness in the finish, some estery component in the aforementioned manners. Mouthfeel is light, with a full texture. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Jan 2, 2007 On tap at Great Lakes Brewery. Cloudy yellow brew with a foamy head with serious hang time. Mild malty lemongrass aroma, pleasant Reason # 1 not to drink BMC. Gentle bitterness, very nice malt/hops balance for a clean finish. Every day drinking stuff here. Dubbercody (214), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jan 1, 2007 Pale yellow strw with fluffy head that leaves a soft lacing on the side of the glass. Sweet malty smell. Taste is malty wheaty and citrus.
Super easy drinking. Sweet and nicely effervescent for a witbier. Pleasing way to start my Great Lakes rating adventure.
I can almost transport myself into a deck chair, with my feet in a kiddie pool after mowing the lawn with this beer. (At least I don’t have to mow the lawn!)
