Draft pint at The Tap Room, 6/19/2013. Pours light orange with a thin white head; huge copious monstrous lacing. Nose mostly pine and citrus but some floral in there. Sweet but sharply bitter and possibly even bordering on unbalanced hoppy for me. Very good, still.

Thx from Local trade with JBruner Appearance was clear orange gold with creamy off white diminishing 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are soft honey, orange marmalade, lemon, grapefruit, hints of alcohol. Taste are grapefruit, orange, tangerine, lemon, and soft pine, warming alcohol. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with medium body, then lasting balanced soft slick finish. A wonderful DIPA, need to try fresh though for better raring.

Pours a golden amber with hints of ruby. Aroma is sweet and resiny. A bit of a malt backbone, slightly sweet. Bitterness up front that lingers.

Slightly pale golden yellow with a scattering of bubbles and a thin head. Smell is caramel, roasted barley, hints of pine and vegetable. Taste is orange marmalade at first with a big hop kick - lots of pine and citrus peel. Thick, pleasantly syrupy body but fizzy on the tongue.

The body has a very cloudy cooper colored body with a more orange like hue when head up to the light. It is also full of fine yeast sediment hanging in suspension. On top sits a light off white head that starts off a tall 3 and a half fingers and then slowly settles to a small cap of creamy foam. This cap lasted all the way down the glass and left lots of spotty lace and lace fingers which slowly slid down the glass. Its nose is full of sweet orange marmalade like notes, citrus (orange/grapefruit) hops, a light hint of musty hops as well as some light cereal and bready malt notes underneath. There is a big hit of citrusy orange zest and marmalade like sweetness with hints of grapefruit pith upfront. This sits on a sturdy backbone of bready malt and yeasty notes which rounds out the front and middle. On the back end the hop bitterness bits into the tongue in a good way. The citrus notes get more concentrated like orange oil and now there are some mild, spruce like piney hop notes mingling with mellow warmth from the 9.1% abv. It’s full bodied, well carbonated and still nice and smooth.

Bottle via trade. Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is orange and lemon with a very zesty character. Very tropical. Taste is hop forward with a strong but balanced pithy bitterness. Hop flavor seems a bit like lemons and tropical mango. Dries out in the finish with a touch of alcohol warming in the ear. Very enjoyable but the boost could be tamed down.

Tap: One of the first beers I tried after I began reviewing. Very prompt notes. Golden-yellow body, fairly clear with an eggshell foam resting on top. Moderate lacing. Aroma is full of tropical fruit & mild citrus, pretty juicy overall with a big, underlying caramel & almost sugary sweetness. A little too much, maybe. Taste confirms, this is quite sweet for the style. Hop notes induce grapefruit, tropical fruit peels, citrus notes, some orange, all smothered in sugary, caramel glaze. Very hoppy but equally malty. Sweet finish of tropical fruit, sugar, toffee, toasted bread, & caramel malt. Sticky, big-time mouth feel. Not bad, but not in my personal wheelhouse of DIPAs as far as the malt is concerned.

On draft. Cooper color with one finger head. Slight grapefruit aroma, not so strong. Taste is much better than the aroma. Grapefruit taste with some booze. Very smooth.

pours clear golden, half finger creamy head. Aroma dank citrus and tropical fruit, slight fresh dough. Taste bitter, dank, resinous tropical and citrus hops up front, fresh dough and a hint of sweetness mid mouth, bitter hoppy finish that lasts. Mouthfeel fuller side of medium body, medium carbonation, dry finish. Overall awesome, very tasty, not overly bitter, well made beer, I love when this is available.

Bottle in pint glass. Pours dark yellow with thick white head and strong carbonation. Aroma is mostly citrus and pine. You are first hit with strong hoppy bitterness, but it doesn’t linger and is followed by hints of grapefruit, pine/spruce, and malty sweetness. A strong alcohol taste follows and lasts on the tongue for some time. This is not my favorite IPA, but it is good and surprisingly drinkable given the strong hopping and high alcohol content.
