Bottle courtesy of trade. Drain pour. Just not that good. Jumbled flavors. Past its prime.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 PhillyCraft (651) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Bottle, pours a glowing, slightly hazy bright shade of orange. Good lacing and a nice medium soapy white head. Aromas of pineapple, tangerine citrus, pine, caramel, toasty malts. Taste was amazing. So much grapefruit citrus, butter, spicy malts with a moderately bitter finish. A little boozey overall but that fades once warm. Might be my favorite Great Lakes when it is fresh.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (189) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2012
Pours a bright golden with a full white head. Aroma is sweet and reminds me of candy somewhat. More specifically, there is lots of pineapple, some grapefruit, with some caramel malty undertones. Heavy hop flavor throughout drinking. Pineapple and grapefruit tastes remain, along with malt, grass, pretty sweet which I was not expecting. Sticky and full bodied with a heavy hop aftertaste. Alcohol content is very noticeable. Lots of lacing on this one.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 BeerSquare (25) - - MAY 23, 2012
When I tasted this last year, I did not think as much of it as I do now-- it seemed overly citrusy and spicy.
But tasting "this year’s batch" or at least the first I’ve seen in about a year, wow, I love it. Really nice dryness to the finish-- still plenty of that citrusy, pineyness, but not overly bitter and very clean.
Also, the T shirt is badass in a heavy metal tshirt kinda way.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 theisti (2441) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Shaker pint draft at the Old Bag Nails pub in Worthington, Ohio. The pour is a hazed orange golden, with a one inch off white head. The aroma is softly sweet honey, floral, and a bready malt. The taste is honey sweet, sharp bitterness, the floral of the nose, some leafiness, and noticeable booze. The palate is medium to light bodied, with the hot booze finish.

This is a ’10 bottling and the hop aroma and initial flavor has faded. Unfortunately it has left it with a little bit of a rubbing alcohol aspect. Bordering a little bit on a hopped up barleywine. Going to have to take my time with this one. Dark dull orange color. Alcohol, bandaid dominate the aromas and flavors. Finish is pretty sweet with a bit of a bite at the end.
