mabel (1246), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 9, 2007 [382-20070630] Tap @ Great Lakes (Cleveland, OH). Light banana yeast aroma. Hazy, dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting white head. Flavour is like a sweet toffee banana split. Medium-full body. Nice, fairly toned down as it seems to be missing carbonation. jerc (3056), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 7, 2007 Draft at the brewpub. Headless hazy brown body. Muted yeasty aroma of dark malt. Similar flavour, light estery yeast notes, and toasty malt with light caramel notes. Average palate is under carbonated. Not unpleasant but a bit disappointing - I was hoping for a bigger Aventinus like flavour. I doubt that the name is a reference to the Gilmore Girls, but it brings up memories of the show nonetheless. How might the show have been different had Luke’s diner been serving up micro brew and pulled pork rather than coffee and donuts? Ok that was a stretch... but I got the reference in! :)
6/3/6+/3/13 rowefam3 (70), kendallville, Indiana, USA Jul 3, 2007 Updated: Jul 14, 2007This is the most unique offering from GL that I have tasted. The combination of wheat and dark beer worked magnificantly well. I would of just stuck with it if It wern’t for my desire to try the other offerings. crizay (1069), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Jun 16, 2007 Pours a murky purple brown with small almond head. Aroma is banana and some caramel sweetness. Flavor is much the same banana and caramel, with a slight roasted malt and nutty finish. The banana stays around in the background the whole time with a slight smoky sweetness in the finish. Good beer I need to go back down and have a few more.
