Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Bottle courtesy of Tilley4. BB date of 11/23/06. Pours a deep, hazy mahogany with a creamy, beige head. The nose is a malty blend of toffee, caramel, brown sugar, bright fruit and spice with a bright hop presence in the background. Medium to full-bodied and creamy with a bitter and lightly dry finish. The flavor is a big malty front with raisin, wood, nuts, and light peat notes along with earthy and citric hops and fruity peach pit at the finish. This is a unique brew. Creamy and multifaceted. I have got to get another bottle of this to see if the hops play a bigger factor in a fresher bottle. I liked this one quite a bit. Thanks for sending it, Sam!

Strong, robust, and very hoppy. A nice bitterness runs through this ale and really paired well with an inferno chicken sandwich at Midtown Pub in Madison. Easy to quaff, this one was quite a masterpiece.

Courtesy of Alexsdad06, Thanks Brad! 12 oz bottle. Pours a ruby hued amber color with a medium creamy tan head. Nose of grapefruit hops, lots of ripe vibrant peach that light up the aroma, mango ,other citrus fruits and sweet malts linger in the background. Initial taste of grapefruit hops that are sharp and delicious. Not over powering. Moving into a mid palate of fruit mainly distinctable is peach which was given off from the aroma and bready malts. Finishing with bitter hops with touches of caramel with a good palate duration. Good head retention and nice lacing of the glass. Medium body. Very delightful warming beer and well balanced.

No. This strong IPA is NOT well balanced and gets its overly hyped rating on this site from the hop-heads. Too bitter adn alcholol presence too strong.

Tried at PP bottle shop at Logan’s tasting. Bottle from alohaC. Thanks Christian! He says it has some age on it. Nice malty melanoidin or caramelized malt flavor and aroma. Some oxidization. Very nice.

The beer was deep amber in color and pours a thick head of tight bubbles that dissipates slowly. The nose is somewhat sour with scents of citric hops, spice, orange/pumpkin? and some caramel. In the mouth this is medium-bodied and smooth which turns dry toward the finish. The flavors are more malt driven with additional sweetness and flavors of dark caramel and maybe a hint of expresso. This is a wonderful Fall beer.

12oz bottle.deep amber/copper color. White head. Aroma of pine and apple trees. Flavor is sweet malt, bitter citrus hop flavor. Very nice malt character. Super nice hop. Lingering bitter finish. This is more of an Oktoberfest/Märzen style.
