DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 5, 2007 Clear red-brown body under a tan head - very Arrogant Bastard-like. The aroma takes on a spicy nutmeg and red pepper element - kind of a peppery pumpkin pie. A buttery-soft biscuit base with stewed raisin highlights is then accented with a peppery, citrusy hops. The fine carbonation lends a smooth, silky mouthfeel. Fine stuff. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 4, 2007 Bottle. Clean ruby red color. A bit too bitter for me. It has a surprising creaminess on the mouth. Slightly soapy finish. Strong flavor profile overall. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Nov 4, 2007 Nice pour, Mellowed abit from sitting, some alcohol on the first sips, then calmed as it warmed, some citrus, Hints of hops, nice maltiness to it, a dangerous drinker if one isn’t careful! Very good. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Nov 3, 2007 12oz bottle, had because i forgot i had it chilled after halloween, not huge hops, but rather a balanced ale with tons of sweet matl flavors, enjoyable to say the least... delightful. esp on a cold winter night beerbill (1917), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 2, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with DeuceDeuceOU. This beer pours one of the reddest reds I have seen in a beer. Clear and brilliant with a bubbly and creamy linen white head that left partial lacing on the glass. Aroma is lightly toasted malt with just a whisp of pine. The flavor is initially malt and quickly flashes over to a strongly bitter hops flavor. As the beer breathes a bit, I’ve noticed the bitterness subside ever so slightly, but is still asserive. Despite the strong bitterness, it really does not linger after the swallow. A fun beer to drink - I should have had this one on Halloween! Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2007 12oz bottle that looks to be more than a year old if I’m reading the label correctly. It pours a crystal clear amber with off white head. The aroma is pretty solid with pine like hops, rich roasted malts and sweet caramelized malts. The taste is full and aggressive. The pine hoppiness hits hard up front and slowly gives up ground to roasted malts and sweet crystal malts. The hop assertiveness never recedes. The malts seem to struggle to reach the hop flavor plateau but just don’t have enough juice to pull it off. The malts whimper off into the background toward the finish and allow the hoppiness to shine though. It seems a bit thin somehow. blastoff (21), Alabama, USA Oct 28, 2007 Updated: Jan 14, 2008I drank a dogfish head 60 minute IPA after this, and it still tasted hoppy but almost a bit plain and macroish. This beer is very strong and multidimensional with a strong flavor. Seasonal and pricy (9$/4pack) but excellent. fiver29 (703), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Oct 27, 2007 Interesting beer. High citrus notes dominate this red colored beer. Pours with a nice head that lasts quite a while. Very bitter to the taste with not enough malt balance in my opinion.
