Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

12 oz bottle coutesy of Secret Santa. Moderate sweet malt aroma with some spice hitting the nose. Red body with tan head. Flavor had a thicker malted caramel to cover a spicey hop bitter whice was good for me. Smooth and the palate with a touch of cinnamon left on it and little dry but a good brew. Thanks Santa.

Pours a relatively rich coppery red with a dense this offwhite head. The nose is relatively sweet and malty. Floral hops. Really rich and pleasant. A hint of alcoholic tutti fruit with some slightly spicy aspects. Perhaps even some peppery hops? A bit of hazelnut in the background. Creamy on the tongue with a bit of thickness, certainly full in the mouth. Sweet malt dominates the flavor. A bit of a let down compared to the nose. Toast just distracts me from the caramel sweetness and the peppery to floral hops. Again, a fruity sort of alcohol. Creamy, with a toasty peppery, alcoholic dry finish. I cannot blieve there aren’t spices in this, there seems to be cinnamon. I think with less dark malt in this (particularly things giving toast) and perhaps less bitter hops (less hops?) this could be a nice beer, even with a dash of actual spices thrown in, and I generally dislike spices in beers. A bit soapy. Perhaps it’s Cascades?

As a Miller Lite commercial plays at this very moment with the slogan "A good honest beer at a tasty price," I think how it aptly describes this one. A solid beer with some effort put into it. There are considerable similarities to the Burning River pale ale here -- the reddish appearance for one -- and a very dry finish, maybe the driest I can remember. The nose is slightly fruity. One of the times that a beer improved for me from my very initial estimate that it was too thin on taste, but that was just big-beer-overload talking.

Great caramel malty flavor with a hint of chocolate. The hop taste is citrusy. The finish is very fruity, grape pear pineapple cherry and strawberry.

bottle from lukin013: pours a clean and clear deep oranf colour with a soap like tan head that lingers on the beer. aroma nice hop aroma and a beautiful malt background. flavour is bitter grapefruit hops up front, rich caramel malts, some earth and pine hops in the finish with some sweet dark fruits. very enjoyable ale.

Nice sweet deep red ale. Piney aromas and bitter hoppy flavors make this one very enjoyable. Slight sweetness on the finish with a decent malt profile. I was into this one.
