Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

alcohol is dominant in this one, decent hop flavor, smells and tastes what a stron ale should smell and taste like.

FOURTH TRIAL: I’ve had this beer a few times before at (what tastes like) varying degrees of freshness. The first few times I’ve had it, it had a great hop presence, a nice malty backbone, and a bit of rye flavore. However, this time, it was much less hoppy and the malt and alcohol seemed to have taken a more dominant position. It was still good, but not as good as the first few trials. When both are fresh, I slightly prefer Founder’s Red’s Rye (which tastes quite similar to me), but to me, this beer seems to age a bit better (still rather have it fresh though). Overall, a great beer: great looking, great lacing, great smelling, and great tasting.

12oz bottle from moejuck - thanks, Joe! This beer wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it’s quite nice. A pumped up, fairly hoppy amber, I’m not sure of its relation to its pale ale younger sibling. But regardless of that, it’s nice looking, medium bodied, with a piquant quality to the flavors and just a tad of a bite (from hops, from spice, who knows?). Fine stuff.

Complex fruitty/hoppy aroma and rich fruit flavor without being a fruitty beer. Very smooth finish and easy to drink.

Pours a medium bodied, cherry red color with a small white head ring. Aroma is a nice balance of sweet fruits and mild hops. Hops much more prevailant in the flavor. Sort of a bitter grassy, grapefruit hop taste with a sweet rasberrylike finish. Very tasty beer.

12oz bottle. Reddish amber, with a thick tan head. Althought the aroma was mostly sweet, with notes of grain and caramel, the flavor was dominated by hops. Long lasting grapefruit flavor on the tongue. Some alcohol present in the finish.

Can’t pronounce the name, but a darn good beer. Poured from the bottle to a bright copper color with medium off-white head that lingered for most of the glass and left good lavcing. Aroma was a very pleasant blend of malty dark fruit and floral, grassy hops. Flavor was more on the bitter hoopy side, and aa the beer warmed, the 8% alcohol made itself more known. Palate was slightly bitter, and the finish was smooth and slightly warming.
