Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

12oz bottle. Reddish amber, with a thick tan head. Althought the aroma was mostly sweet, with notes of grain and caramel, the flavor was dominated by hops. Long lasting grapefruit flavor on the tongue. Some alcohol present in the finish.

Can’t pronounce the name, but a darn good beer. Poured from the bottle to a bright copper color with medium off-white head that lingered for most of the glass and left good lavcing. Aroma was a very pleasant blend of malty dark fruit and floral, grassy hops. Flavor was more on the bitter hoopy side, and aa the beer warmed, the 8% alcohol made itself more known. Palate was slightly bitter, and the finish was smooth and slightly warming.

Bottle courtesy of foureyedgeek. Great hoppy nose, sweet and malty with a good amount of floral and fruity hoppy notes. Alcohol vapors, caramel and toasty butterscotch. Clear dark amber with thin off-white lacing head. Heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with sugary maltiness and caramel. Great bitter finish that isn’t overpowering but well balanced. Fruity hop tastes, alcohol warming that’s almost reminiscent of a barley wine. Honey sweet finish with dry nutty after. Nice ale.

Clear deep red pour with a lasting foamy tan colored head. A great looking beer! Aroma is a small amount of resiny hops underneath a malty backbone. Good smooth mouthfeel, very mildly carbonated. Slightly fruity taste with a nice hop bitterness in the end.

This is a good beer and it’s too bad it’s not brewed all year round. I love the hop flavor!!! Good and bitter and very smooth. Red as the label.

overall a great brew. this beer pours a deep blOOd red,ok its more amberish with moderate head. full of subtle flavors - a nutty/malty mellow taste initilaly, followed by a linger of carmel. it is very creamy and mellow for an 8% alc. beer as you can only taste a hint of the alcohol... one of many tasty brews from GLBC.... Boo! scary but v good

Aroma is that of raspberries and hops. Pours a ruby/amber cross with moderate golden head. Definitely the bigger, better brother of Burning River. Nicely hopped for flavor with hints of berry. Very complex and at the same time well balanced. Hides alcohol well. As with all the Great Lakes I have tried, has a nice full body with moderately bitter finish. Great beer.

Bottle from RagallachMC (Thanks Paul!) Pours a glowing reddish amber w/ no head but visable carbonation. Lots of fruits abound the nose-raspberry, cranberry, and cherry layred overtop a heavy hop profile. Flavor delivers a flash of sugary sweetness with an immediate bitter hop kick. A tad sharp at the end, but still an enjoyable and drinkable beer at the end of a long work day.
