Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Poured an amber color, ok initial head for a higher abv beer. The aroma was earthy, piney hops, some caramel. The flavor was caramel malts, tea bags, light citrus hops, and earthy flavors. The mouthfeel was moderate, alcohol hid ok. A decent brew, but not fancy enough for the alcohol level. On par with a standard IPA in excitement level. Thanks to Bert for this bottle!

Fantastic strong ale. Very alcoholic taste balance with highly acidic hops and dark red malts. Excellent to drink in the winter.

12oz. bottle. Red-shifted amber with a thin film of off white head. Sweet tropical fruit and buttery malt in the aroma. Ruddy, mildly toasty malt combines with a less assertive earthen, spicy, piney hop character. Some residual bitterness in the finish, with old caramel and hints of alefruit. Mouthfeel is a slightly heavy medium.

Bottle. Pours witha very nice reddish color, but not much of a head. The beer is advertised to have bite and bite it does. Aromas are of malt and fruit. Flavor is a mix of bitterness, sweetness and fruiiness. The mouthfeel is quite nice, medium to full bodied. Long lasting finish dominated by a hop bite.

12 oz bottle from Trooper11 - thanks Adam! Pours a reddish amber with a beige head. Sweet grapefruit nose, big maltiness with a slightly earthy tone. Well balanced and big, the flavor of the malts comes to the fore, chewy and somewhat sweet, with fat grapefruit and caramel flavors. Earthy and bitter citrus finish. Excellent.

Bottle from Santa. Pours a red/clear body with very thin head. Aroma is sweet with hints of cherries. Flavor is thick and syrupy with a nice hoppy palate. Finished smooth.

Dark Amber beer with soft fluffy off white head. Nose of hops that is pretty intense upon the first whiffs. Pleasantly hoppy with a malt back bone. Interesting Strong Ale. I was surprised how the malty complexity was nicely balanced and often overpowered by the hops. Great Beer to drink while watching and Evening with Kevin Smith.
