wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Dec 7, 2005 Poured copper/golden with a thick white head. Good retention. Smell like citrus, graitfruit, caramel, courant and orange. Taste was the same. A little bitter at times but on the whole quite smooth. Good bready taste as it went down. Palate was hoppy with good sweetness. Another solid offering from this good brewery. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Dec 4, 2005 Clear, reddish copper appearance with a fairly large, long lasting head and good lacing. Flowery, citrusy Cascade hope aroma along with a hint of toffee from the malts. Full bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Taste started out well hopped and was balanced by caramel malts. Lingering, fairly dry finish. fatty (363), Perkiomenville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 3, 2005 Pours clear orange with reddish hue and very thin ringing head. Pleasant aroma that’s hard to pinpoint, but can pick out some hops and sweet citrus. Flavor of light hops, orange, grapefruit, caramel. Creamy sticky palate. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Nov 28, 2005 Bottle from Rileys in Madison. I was quite surprised as I thought this was a lower ABV as it was well masked. More of Caramel candy bar with a bitter finish. The hops didn’t take on the sweetness allowing this some complexity. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2005 Bottle... Clear, amber ale with orange highlights. Small, creamy, off-white head. Good retention. Citrusy, fruity aroma with a very slight pine undertone. Moderately bitter, grapefruit flavor with a solid, caramel / malt backbone. Full-bodied and ultra creamy with medium carbonation. Finishes dry and grassy. Great brew! Thanks to scraff for the bottle. jdubilla (12), Athens, Ohio, USA Nov 26, 2005 Yum! I’ve had Nosferatu both on tap and out of bottle, and my position hasn’t changed. An excellent strong ale, very hoppy and pleasant to drink. The 8% ABV certainly doesn’t hurt either. oldno7 (135), Spokane, Washington, USA Nov 22, 2005 Pours copper with a thin white head. It has a hoppy floral aroma and flavors of malts, hops, caramel, and fruits.
Very well balanced with a crisp finish.
An excellent American Strong Ale. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Nov 20, 2005 12 oz. bottle. sort of an orangey-red copper in color with an off-white head which fades to just a bit of lace. starts out sweet and malty and finishes with a huge hop presence. I really enjoyed this one but I think it could have been a little better with more balance on the front end. Big thanks to Lou18 for this big beer!
