Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

12 oz. bottle. sort of an orangey-red copper in color with an off-white head which fades to just a bit of lace. starts out sweet and malty and finishes with a huge hop presence. I really enjoyed this one but I think it could have been a little better with more balance on the front end. Big thanks to Lou18 for this big beer!

Bottle pours a copper color that is playfully close to full-on red. Nose is instantly alive and surprisingly malty sweet with caramel, nuts and overripe fruit. Flavor starts smooth and sweet like the aroma but is rounded out by a sharp, powerful hop bitterness of citrus. The balance is gorgeous and each drink is revelatory and new.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with BBB63 (thanks!). Bottle labeled best before Nov. 20, 04. Poured a medium and clear amber color with a very small sized off white head. The color had a reddish hue to it as well. Aromas of hops (still there after a year past its BB date), oranges, citrus, and a light smokiness in the background. Tastes of orange peel, citrus and caramel. Nicely balanced. Sticky body. I wonder what the hops would be like in a fresh bottle.

Blood red with a nice head, faint smell of cherries. Taste was hoopy fruits. Refreshing. Thanx Lou18 for the Halloween treat!

Thanks to Hopdog. Pours an orange amber with an average tan lacing head. Aroma of sweet tea, maybe some tobacco and slight hops. Flavor I was picking up more of the hops and some of the same things that I picked up in the aroma. Maybe some pine hops as well.

Pour is a amber with a white head. Aroma is a nice deep hop smell with lots of fruit showing up. Flavor is hoppy and dark malts. Lots of dark fruit and caramel are in this one. Very tasty and one of the better brews from great lakes.

A delicious surprise. Bottle courtesy of Ohiodad. Rich hop aroma balanced with alcohol and malt. Orange amber. Light foam. Full body. Delicious hop and spice held up by solid malt. A bit of pepper in the finish. More than expected.

Bright tan color, very white foamy head. Aromoa is very slight. Taste starts out very hoppy and ends with a bitter finish.
