Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Rich roasted caramel and toffee malts artfully balanced by a heap of hops...mainly of the Pacific Northwest citrus/grapefruit variety. Very tasty and repeatable...Nice long-lasting bitterness right through the lingering finish, too.

Dark Coppery brown liquid with a nice beige head. Nose is dry and very strong hoppy. Taste is full, hoppy and more dry bitterness that evolves and lingers. Mouthfeel is somewhat less than expected, yet still a bit tangy or fizzy. Finishes dry and good back of the mouth bitters.

Poured a beautiful brick red color with a white head that was gone before I was done smelling it. The aroma was a lot of grapefruit and hay. Big flavor with a bite, but I had no idea this was an 8% beer, as I didn’t read anything first and the alcohol was well hidden. Very enjoyable. Thanks again OhioDad!!

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma is buttery caramel with hints of citrus and flowery hops. Pours a bright transparent reddish-orange with a small white head. Lots of caramel and toffee up front, but it comes across slightly watery. Finishes with a light grapefruit hoppiness that seems to increase in the aftertaste and then lingers for some time.

This is basically a pretty good but not stellar IIPA,huge hop aroma, nicely balanced with just mild hints of malt sweetness and citrus. Incredibly drinkable.

Bottle. A reddish amber color with a tan head. The aroma had sweet caramel, apple, slightly toasted malts. A moderately spiced and hoppy flavor with caramel. Smooth and enjoyable throughout. Thanks to OhioDad (Scott) for the trade.

A reddish brown color witha light spotty white topping that is gone within seconds. Has a really big hop aroma thing goin on that quickly turns into fuel kinda like nailpolish remover. I got just a medium malt thing goin on in the body with maybe some spices or veggies or something.
