Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Bottle on 12/13/2008. Clear dark brown body with ruby highlights and a medium frothy tan head that persists. Big citrus and resiny hop aroma with a sweet caramel background. Big caramel and citrus hop flavor with light resiny notes in the background. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear copper color with a fizzy and lasting slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some citrus and floral notes. Flavor is very hoppy and floral at the beginning with lots of citrus and some roasted malt notes. Middle is very bitter and floral with tons of hops, some caramel, and alcohol. Finish is quite bitter and lingering.

12 oz bottle shared by AlohaC. Sweet malty aromas with some citrus. Flavor was similar with yeast and hops in the finish. Pretty good stuff.

Fresh bottle, 2008. Pours a fairly transparent red with an off-white fizzy head that leaves nice lacing down the glass. On the nose toffee and caramel, citrus and floral hops, quite a big bouquet. Toffee and citrus hops meld over a slightly sweet body finishes with a nice bitter bite. Semi-dry finish, round mouthfeel, medium carb. Quite good.

I drank this one quite a while ago, just found my notes. Pours a deep but clear crimson with a half inch of off white head. The aroma is citrusy American hops and roasty malts. The flavor is sweet malts up front, then bitter hops, and has a bitter biscuity aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy! This is a good beer worth drinking more than once.

Light reddish amber in color with a thin white head. Citrusy hops in the nose. Mild malt sweetness in the back, balanced out by an upfront dose of piney, citrusy hops. Lightly dry finish. Nice.

Draft at Capones during the Black Friday even of 2008. Pours a clear orange amber with a beige head. Aroma of tea and plants. Different yes, interesting yes, good?....suprisingly yes. Flavor is more conventional with notes of chocolate, nuttiness and tehn tea coming through. This one was different but enjoyable.

Appearance: dark deep amber with hint of reddish brown. Large creamy beige head. Aroma: medium light alpha hop aroma with noticeable alcohol feel. Burn with woody hints, sweet malts sitting deep below. Touch of vanilla. Flavour/Palate: soft front with fruity, leafy wet hops. Soft clean malts quietly fill void. Twig like bitter ending with softer sublime flow. Semi dry alcohol felt detached. I am not sure what they wanted to create here. Quality is present but direction somewhat misguided.
