COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale’s big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Amber, caramelish color with a small head. Has a strong piny taste to it yet, isnt quite an IPA. Smells of faint pine needles. Overall, a very good beer with a slight burn to it as it goes down.

One of my favorite seasonal beers. A malty flavor throughout with a slight bitter finish.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2005 On tap at the brewery, and on tap several months later in Milwaukee, warenting an extra point to both palate and overall impression. Translucent amber in color with a thin white sheet for the head. Nice hoppy smell, with other aroma contributors including caramel, pine, neglected grass fields, toffee and cedar. Hits the palate and it’s all IPA. Toffee sweetness and bitter hops nail the peak of the tongue and fade to a syrupy sweetness on the sides. Grassy, pine-like bitterness. A solid rendition of an IPA.

Bottle 12oz thanks to Seth at BP-Clough in Cincy. Poured a dark amber with large off-white head. Good aroma of brown sugar. Medium to full body. Complex flavor of hops and malt with a small bitter finish. Another very good brew from GREAT LAKES.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2005 Bottled. Amber colour. Caramel aroma. Sweet with dense mouthfeel. Intense grapefruity hoppiness over a lovely malt character and a lingering very bitter finish. Like with almost every Great Lakes beer this is perfect quality.

Poured a mostly clear dark amber color with a reddish tint and a medium off-white head. Sweet thick aroma. Fruity with notes of brown sugar. Sweet malty flavor mildly acidic with a bitter middle through the long dry finish. Full body is soft and silky. Nice and tasty with the alcohol completely hidden.

Malty sweet aroma. Maltiness caries well throughout providing just enugh backbane for the high bitterness. A little harsh but enjoyable.

Dark orange with a foamy tan head. Full sweet hoppy and caramelly aroma. Flavor is sweet at first with a bitter end. Fruity, hoppy and candied. Sharp but nice.

A hazy amber beer with a disappearing orange head. The aroma is sweet, very hoppy, with notes of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel and a lovely bitter dry end.

Bottled: Orange coloured. Hazy. Light brown coloured. Spiced, light fruity and hoppy aroma. Flavour is hoppy and fruity with some nice malty accents. Is very bitter in the end. Quite delicious beer. Thanks to BBB63 for this.
