Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Brewed in the USA.... Courtesy of AFI96, thanks waylo. Pours a med amber color with a small white head. Aroma of strong hops, and malts. The taste is of spices, hops, and caramel. The finish is very dry and a bit dissapointing on tap. I want to try this in a bottle....... not sure if it will make any difference. Mad props for having a vampire on the bottle....... lol.

On tap at Capones. Dark amber with a creamy off-white head. Not much on the nose maybe a touch of hops. Taste is molasses, light hops, bread, and light spiciness. I did have this after Russian River Blind Pig so my tastebuds may have been destroyed by that. Decent lacing. I wasn’t super impressed.

Bottle at The Map Room. I had heard this called a brown long ago - and I assumed a good one. Then I couldn’t find it for about a year. What I found was both well done and disappointing. Probably not the fault of Great Lakes. Nice light brown/red color with distinct notes of flour and the lightest caramel. Really dangerously smooth for an 8%.

Goes well with the strong Cheddar as recomended by jsquire... Beer tips with the Trade top bloke.

Bottle. Pours red with a beige head. The aroma is... sandy? with citric hops. The flavor is quite strange, I know I’m not helping anyone with that description but I really don’t know how to describe it. Also some floral hops. Weird, but not bad.

10 oz. glass poured draft at Charleston’s (New Lenox, IL). Finally got around to having before it dissappeared with the season. Burnt sienna pour with a small tan head, slightly hazed with copper notes around the edges. Aromas are muted, a touch of caramel and floral hops. Taste is similar, toffee and caramel build in to a finish that sports a bitter hoppy bite. Hides its strength well. Quite a looker and a smooth and well balanced brew, but lacks any depth or memorable qualities.

Pours a clear copper with a finger sized white head. Aroma is of dark, ripe fruits- black cherry, and strawberries. Taste is fruity, semi sweet and creamy. Lots of flava, on this halloween. flava flave.

12oz bottle, courtesy of my cousin and his wife. Dark copper pour, off white head. Suprisingly malty with a little hoppiness.A good amount of bitterness in the flavor though. Nice beer.
