CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 2, 2008 Crushed with Honkeybra. F.W. Murnau kicks ass. That being said: beer’s aight. Weird malt profile. It hangs out in your nostrils and makes a booger that you want to save and eat later on. Thin body, and a weird and pretty funky flavor. A bizarre beer. satan165 (540), River Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 2, 2008 huge hop profile reminds me of an IIPA but without the syrupy mouthfeel. too well balanced regardless. dark red color is not just a bunch of hype, its quite pretty. big beer in flavor profile and ABV and it shows, this is substantial and delicious. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber/red with little head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, with citrus from hops. Flavor is well balanced, starts malty then finishes with a hop bite. WakeandBake (422), Greenville, Michigan, USA Nov 1, 2008 Updated: Mar 22, 2009Bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber color with a slight head but the head remains as well as a great sticky lace. Nose is surprisingly sweet malty and quite hoppy with a smoked quality.Great body and mouthfeel, silky and smooth. Roasted malt, caramel, and piny hop taste . I deem this stuff ’’The Bomb’’ Malty goodness with a bite. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 31, 2008 12 oz. bottle in trade from RCL- thank you! Served in trappist glass- what a way to celebrate Halloween; watch a classic horror film (Nosferatu) while drinking a brew with the same name. Poured copper with a hard ruby tint when held to light, low carbonation. Aroma of malt, citrus, and hops. Hits the mouth with high medium, hops kick in from the start and carry well after the finish, malt is hearty and enjoyable, a touch of sweetness at the end. I could have 1, 2, or 20 of these- but that’s for another time. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA Oct 30, 2008 From bottle. Part of October Dayton Beer Tasting event. Pours deep amber with plenty of citrus hops. Full mouthfeel supported by malt and hops balance. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA Oct 29, 2008 10/29/08: On draft. Garnet brown body with a full head and plenty of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and malt. Flavor is predominantly hoppy and also offers a nice amount of caramel malts. Finish is bitter but sweet. A solid autumn offering by Great Lakes. jebb12 (39), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 29, 2008 Deep amber color, well carbonated. Aroma of hops and malt and what I can only desscribe as a ’green’ smell. Thicker and more hoppy tasting than anticipated, with distinct hickory overtones and caramel, almost like it was cask aged. The sour aftertaster takes a bit away frm the overall impression but this is a good, not great, beer.
