COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale’s big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Pours a very nice red color with a short head. Dissipates to a film and lacing. The smell is fruity hop with a sweet malty background. The taste is also fruity hop with a nice balance of malt. Mildly bitter finish. This is a great beer. Well balanced and very easy to drink.

From NOTES: A: Piney hops, with a touch of some herby dank-ness; malt sweetness; toasted grains and dark bread crust. A: Dark ruby red with an big, rocky off white head that slowly fades and leaves whispy lacing trails. Great lacing overall. T: Caramel with lots of citrus and pine alongside spicy hop flavor. P: Medium with a medium carbonation level. O: Not my bag, waaaaay to bitter but has a certain strong ale flavor that appeals to my palate.

Pours clear chestnut with a thick and rather persistent frothy buff head. Aroma promises with malt, hops and yeast. Flavor is a little better, hoppy and woody with roast malt, caramel and fruity supporting notes. Mouthfeel has decent body and fizz. Sink your teeth into it any time of year.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a deep brownish amber color with thin tan head. Boozy aroma with hints of raisin, prune, citrus, yeast and malts all on the nose. Starts out slightly sweet on the palate then the hop bitterness takes over throughout the finish. Nice pepper taste present as well as some spice.

Draft at MOTR Pub on September 27, 2014 at Kid Congo Powers And The Pink Monkey Birds concerts during MidPoint Music Festival. Very dark brown hue, nice firm bittersweet nose, rich well balanced bittersweet flavor--maybe a slight edge to the sweetness. Fine stuff.

12oz bottle from Dave. Pours a reddish brown color with a small foamy tan head. Aroma is boozy, with lots of sweet caramel, alcohol soaked raisins, rotted orange and apricot. Taste is much the same, with some roasted grains, and some earthy bitterness that lingers in the finish.
