Commercial Description:
Often referred to as Burning River Pale Ale's big brother, this stock ale is remarkably balanced for such a highly hopped beer. A rich deep blood red color makes this beer scary enough to be served every Halloween and a few other times of the year.

Poured reddish orange into the glass. I thought it was a DIPA when I was drinking it. But American strong ale explains the malty and sweet characteristics. Seemed a little thin and not as balanced as others I have had. Overall, still a good beer.

Wow, yea lots of hops. The blend of hops and alcohol are a big part of this. Obviously liked by a lot of beer enthusiast that like a lot of da hops! Balanced with dry bitter notes. Well put together beer but not a super hops fan, I would try again though.

This starts with a nice strong pine hop aroma, and pours a brilliant red with a thin white head. Nice sharp bitterness balanced out by a touch of caramel malts. Very easy to drink, with the alcohol very well hidden in the flavor. Something I look forward to every year.

Courtesy of Alexsdad06, Thanks Brad! 12 oz bottle. Pours a ruby hued amber color with a medium creamy tan head. Nose of grapefruit hops, lots of ripe vibrant peach that light up the aroma, mango ,other citrus fruits and sweet malts linger in the background. Initial taste of grapefruit hops that are sharp and delicious. Not over powering. Moving into a mid palate of fruit mainly distinctable is peach which was given off from the aroma and bready malts. Finishing with bitter hops with touches of caramel with a good palate duration. Good head retention and nice lacing of the glass. Medium body. Very delightful warming beer and well balanced.

Pours a very dark red with a small white head. Aroma is extremely hoppy and a bit of dark fruit but I did not pick up much malt. Flavor is hoppy from start to finish. Some of the malt and fruit sweetness come in and help balance it at the end, but there is no mistaken, this is a hop dominated beer. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice beer. not as balanced as they say, but a good ale nonetheless.

Pours amber with a big cream colored head. Aroma is fruity, citrusy, slightly earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is a great blend of caramel, with big citrusy hop that has a big amount of earthiness and a little spice. Very good.

Bottle from trade. Pours a dark copper color with a small off white head.Aroma of grapefruit and caramel. Taste is of hops and spices. Flavor is odd and uninspiring. Finishes with a dry sweetness lingering on the tongue.

Piney and grassy hops, citrus, light fruit, burnt sugar in the aroma. More orange than red, clear, thin white head. Nice flavor, citrusy hops, sweet malt, a little caramel, light fruit. Solid bitterness. Medium full body. I’ve been sitting on this bottle for a few months, and the age did it well. Rounded out the flavors nicely.
